I remember buying an issue a few months ago. It was fine, but I wasn't that impressed. The editorials were fine but nothing particularly exciting.

i interned there for one day. it's based in detroit (royal oak, actually), michigan where i live. the magazine is a few years old - maybe three.
the editor (ivana) and the main photographer (emin) are

Interesting. I live in MI, too and I've never heard of it.

do you live near royal oak? their office is on washington street, close to downtown. if you drive past it, they display the cover of the magazine in the windows.
when i was there, ana claudia was on the cover of the magazine.
the rest of the magazine is pretty boring, but the editorials are interesting.

here's another magazine based in detroit, with an office in royal oak:

my best friend is in the september issue party section; unfortunately it's not on the website.

Wow, thanks for all this information! I actually don't live near Royal Oak, but Grosse Pointe area...

I'm definately gonna make it point to read this magazine, now...

I really like clear. I have gotten it for the last year, though its only 4 issues a year. Lots of good interviews and interesting articles on design. For an american magazine they focus alot on europe, not that that is a bad thing though. Snickerdoodles is right the fashion editorials are nothing special, but they have gotten better each issue. I would recomend it.

i've been reading clear for a while, i really like it - i love the art direction and it has interesting articles. the newest issue (volume v issue 4 - royal alliance) has an article on some up-and-coming designers: estuay; h. fredriksson; oliver helden; doo.ri; a la disposition; andrew harmon and willow. it also has a really great interview with ivana omazic from celine, a stories about lisbon and rekjavik, and a write-up on open ceremony. non-fashion related pieces include: royal copenhagen ceramics; new york art and architecture; the history of the ipod; the burgeoning trend in mosaics and bang and olufson. the edits are black&white, and have a stark feeling to them.

it's currently hosting its first-annual design competition, open to photographers, industrial/product designers, furniture designers and architects. not sure much more about it but you can email for guidelines, etc.
