Clodelle rules! She's a traveller, a dreamer and a grunge and reggae-loving legend. Get to know the French Canadian, Carribean and Mexico-living gal below.
Jerico Mandybur: Where are you from and where do you live?
Clodelle: I am originally from Montréal but currently live in New York City.
Earliest childhood memory?
I lived on a sailboat with my parents for a year and a half when I was about three. I remember very well sailing with them towards the Caribbean where we ended up living for five years.
Moment that changed your life?
A few years after leaving the Caribbean and we went back to Montréal, as my mother decided it was time for a new adventure. She sold everything and moved us to Mexico for six years, to learn the language and culture. After being there for about three weeks, my mother decided to send me to a small local public school without knowing any Spanish. It was a rough start. For about six months I was really struggling to just be able to communicate with others. Being a 12-year-old girl, not knowing anyone nor the language — rough but amazing times!
Five women you look up to?
I really look up to my grandmother for being such a kind woman with nothing but good intentions and a big heart. My mother for being an incredible adventurous woman who is never scared of taking risks and being confronted by the unknown. Chantale Nadeau, my mother agent. A strong hardworking mother who never gives up and always gives the best of herself.
Best piece of advice you ever received?
To enjoy the present moment and give the best of yourself. Because the past only becomes a memory. Better make it a good one.
What animal would you like to be reincarnated as?
My dog Loca who I brought back from the streets of Mexico. And yes, she does have a pink Mohawk..
What would your last meal be?
My last meal would definitely involve a sushi train, pizza and a buffet of Poutine from La Banquise.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty to me has everything to do with the soul and the energy you bring in the room. Who you are as an individual, the way you treat people and how you see yourself and others.
What rules would you instil if you were Supreme Leader of Earth for one day?
Kindness.
What song do you really wish you'd written and why?
I can't say one song in particular, but if there is one person who has spread much love through his music it's Bob Marley. He is one singer that has always been in my life. Living in Saint-Tomas for five years, that is all we listened to, good reggae everywhere on the island.
Best Youtube clip you've ever seen?
I still quite can't get over Old Gregg..
Send us a selfie?
This selfie was token in a van on our way back from Bowral for an editorial. I though the idea of the third eye was pretty cool. It was a shoot inspired by cult 70's.
