I noticed that a lot of designers were doing very prominant and dramatic collars. Obviously, it's the fall season and coats are everywhere but these go way beyond the standard lapel shape and size. I wonder if this will carry over to Europe. See what you make of it, and add any you find :flower:

Good spotting. :o Bravo. :flower:

I was afraid this was going to be about dog collars for a minute, there.

Oddly, I've been doing unusual collars lately, too. I just finished a peacoat with a stand-away collar that has extremely wide lapels, and I am working on a 1950s-style bolero with a wide cape collar. Apparently I absorbed the current fashion zeitgeist without even trying.

I love quirky collars. They give such presence and style to what would be an otherwise boring jacket. I think they are a wonderful detail. I am still in love with the funnel neck Prada coat from several seasons ago but I can't find it anymore (not that I can afford it if I did find it but it is nice to dream, non?).

I really like upturned, face framing collars. They give a woman a kind of mystique, it's very alluring.

This detail is a passion of mine. :woot:

yes, good spotting spike ^_^ I love really good, eye-catching collars. I see them a lot in vintage clothes but it's good to see them being appreciated again. :D

:woot: I'd like to see the peacoat and the bolero when your finished... :flower:

I'm also currently making a black satin bolero and i'm planning to put a rather vamp-like collar on it with a fleur frog fastening on the front...the inside of the collar is going to be white satin as I'm working with a monochrome 'theme' in mind... I hope it's going to work.

I personally adore the collar trend...I love dramatic collars and big lapels...I think it just adds a quirk to what would be a quite normal garment otherwise, I also think they're flattering, frame the face nicely
