Comme des Garçons F/W 14.15 Paris

practical or not, i'm still blown away by how complex the construction is on some of these pieces. it's nice to see a collection where the clothes don't seem to have their place or their specific terminology in a fashion design textbook. there are so many clothes presented on runways that could be made out of simple sewing patterns, but not at comme des garcons.

no...just no...

maybe if i saw this in a gallery i'd be more open to it...
but this has no place on a commercial catwalk...
rei- two seasons in a row with no clothes!!!
blah

or it would really be cool in this kind of context.
rather interchangeable

I see that she let her monsters emerge as a trigger to defamiliarize the ordinary world/lay bare everyday grotesques familiarized as social routines.
"monster" as 'negative classicist'.
but this is the very heart of what designers like her, carol christian poell etc have been doing, expressed most straightforwardly ever. it crossed my mind that she is rounding off her career.

some textural yumminess

i have to say it looks really fantastic upon a closer view….and i tend to agree with the notion of over-consumption because as a narrative it literally looks like the kind of twisted up scrap heap you would witness at one of those garment factories….

again, wearable or functional,it does appear kawakubo is once again trying to wake up the industry….make it think once again.

:innocent:

those DIY's seem to have some good taste a bit on the fetish side.
here another two.
necessity comme and ordinary comme.

also now and then knots and concatenation have been there as if they were traces of resistance to the drive towards disintegration, amorphism.

.....or it was rei K was trying her hand at strudel making ?? To supply rose bakery ??

Lets not over think .....

let me not join you bearbrick, as I'd never force on you what it suggests to me. to make it clear, I have no problem with the way it appears to you even though her approaches to this line are actually more complicated, conflicted, dynamic in her studio than in your head, because thoughts are free, feelings are particular, and the work is there independent.

I find it funny that bearbrick posts only in Comme des Garçons threads or comments only in relation to Rei Kawakubo. I'm sure she would be flattered by all the attention.

I am surprised by your lack of research and accuracy before you posted such a silly statement .

It was obviously meant to be hyperbolic, but I'm glad you could still see the humor in it. No need to be defensive :) But if a vast majority of one's posts since 2008 are CDG-related, then a duck is a duck.

I agree with you runner. People should be free to make whatever associations they want to when it comes to approaching art and design. I see no point in resorting to censorship, shame or derision when it comes to another's opinion.

And ? Your point ? Censoring me , perhaps ? Defensive ? Ducks ? A vast majority vs the original, all ? I am glad you finally did some research into my responses instead of sprouting nonsense and the attempt at canvassing for support :rolleye: Surely you have better thing to do , surely .;)

Please state your opinions respectfully and stay on topic, personal remarks are not tolerated and further posts of that nature will be removed. Thank you..

i don't care to engage in the back and forth...
i just want to say to runner that i always enjoy your interpretations...
and you always have excellent visuals to back them up...
i confess, there are times when i do not immediately see what you see, even with your descriptions and visual references...
but, eventually, they start to come into focus and it's quite wonderful to be able to see a thing from another person's unique perspective...

it's almost like i have to look at it sideways with my head tilted and think about it and then think about it and then think about it again...
and then, finally...
there it is~!!!

and then i feel like this...
ah!...so, desu ne...

this just happened when i looked at the images runner posted in #31...
at first, i was distracted by the 80's look...
all i was thinking was how much i love that thing and how i wish wish wish to heck that i had owned that in the 80's and had it to wear all of these years since...
but, just now, i suddenly saw the twist in the image next to it and realized how similar they are to the twists in the 80's sweater and those are, of course, so similar to the giant twisted sculptural pieces from this collection...

yattah!
click!!!!.....it all just came into focus...
...

i LOVE when that happens...
thank you runner, dear...
