Comme des Garcons Collection Pictures from the 1990's

Thanks for all the images- so inspiring! This thread is wonderful resource.

I saw the summer ’96 show and it is one of my cherished ‘fashion moments’ :) what I remember most was the contrast btw the show & the black clad audience: a very powerful statement. I can’t believe that was 10 years ago...I had been looking for photos of that collection so thanks again :flower:
Here are a few more favorites:

Wow, thanks so much for the pics. I remember the silver hair show but didnt' see any pictures.
Thanks:-)

Utterly brilliant, all of it. Amazing textiles and textures and shapes. A great antidote to all the bland bland bland from Milan Menswear at the moment. This is true inspiration.

thanks for all the new pictures..i have never seen any of those!

^me neither, thanks nr9dream, you're really a great addition to the forums.

Anna k you are so kind :flower: I enjoy all the great info available here at tfs-you’re most welcome for the pictures. Here’s a last one I forgot to add earlier—Kate Moss s/s 94:

all scans taken from fashion: a history from the 18th century to the 20th century, from the kyoto costume institute

f/w 1990
wedding dress made from white non-woven fabric

f/w 1995
baby-pink acrylic knit w/ tulle petticoat.

s/s 1992
polyester-rayon-paper with cutwork.

dresses made from paper were worn in japan during the kamakura period (1192-1999) and during the edo period (1603-1867) expensive paper dresses were considered extremely stylish.

japanese stencil paper designers created the cut pattern known as goshoguruma and momiji. kawakubo thought that this cut pattern, used during production, looked like lace, but thought it a shame that after its use as a stencil the pattern never came out in the open. the use of paper as a material for a dress, and the idea of using the cutout pattern itself as the main feature of the dress demonstrate kawakubo's orignial point of view where fabrics are concerned.

I want to know how's the sales of CDG?~
becuase some of them not very approachable....
But I know CDG have lots of lines that really commercial

Wow..thank you all so much! I am very lucky because I always find CdG on sale. When I lived in Boston, I once found a whole rack of CdG dresses for US$50 each at Filene's Basement, and used up all my pocket money. Fortunately, a lot of people are intimidated by her avant-garde design, so do look out for designer sales.

I'm so thrilled by the pictures in #82 because I bought the lacy A/W 95-96 neck piece in black on sale, and have always been mystified about the ways to wear it.

Thank you all for posting!:flower:
