I am just curious as to what happens to the unsold GdG items? I cite CDG out of personal taste but if anyone has any clue, I would really like to know! (I am sure others share the sentiment!)

from what i understand the comme des garcons guerilla stores. theres a thread on it somewhere.

I believe that the CDG stores also hold bonfires to burn unsold stock at the end of the season. Johhny can tell you more.

I think the G won't fire the unsold stock Helena.
I also saw some items from 3 years ago, brand new, so I don't know where they keep them all the time:-)

^^^ yes I know...they must do something with it. I know for sure that Comme in Paris holds bonfires.....

as far as I am aware the prices in the guerilla stores are not any cheaper....I have ever only seen a few off-season items in a tiny shop in Milan by chance and it is not a regular feature there....hence, "where does it go"?

My understanding is that they will dsipose of a lot of it, ot at least that is what they used to do before the Guerilla stores. I think a lot of thestick on yoox etc would have been from independents etc rather than comme stores (obviously they couldn't burn stuff that outlets had purchased other than on a sale or return basis). I don't think all of what remains goes to G. Some will be virtually given away to shop assistants, friends of the company etc.

I should speak to the guys at the Dover Street Market store here in London then.....I would definitely like to become a "friend"...:p

It's nice to see you Helena:-)

The prices in Warsaw G are a bit lower than last year thanks to strong polish zl. I like it:-P

Yep Johnny, I think Yoox's stuffs are not from Comme's stores at all. Also the G here can't have everything that they want. I also think not everything is going to reach the Guerrillas.

Come to think of it, it's pretty horrible, no? I understand the desire to keep exclusivity, but something about wantonly destroying beautiful clothing just because they could not sell it irks me :cry:

That´s what happens with Haute Couture most of the time - after the show, after the press has done all the shootings with the garments they wanted, the rest is burned to ashes, most of these houses simply cannot afford keeping up huge archives to preserve every single piece of a collection.

 Wow! Never knew of this burning practice. Very interesting... but I agree with Faust. It's a bit sad.

Although, it makes perfect sense given tricotineacetat's point. It's all about money after all, isn't it? Now, THAT really is sad

I'm also a little shocked about the burning of garments. My initial knee jerk reaction was "you've got to be joking about the bonfires", but after reading tricotineacetat's post...
And now that I think about it, it makes perfect business sense - and I hate that it does. :(
I wonder what they do with the ashes.

Hmm non-flammable clothing... :innocent:

Given the renewed interest and popularity of CDG now, what a waste! Perhaps a truly knocked-down sale instore by invite only (to those who subscribe to the mailing list) should be suggested!
