Hi there,

I am doing a piece on this iconic boutique that opened in the mid 1980s.
Now it's Barneys. Does anyone in the NY area know roughly when it changed over?
I think it was the late 90s but I really need a reliable source.

i think it was in the 90's as well...
then i believe it was a prada store for awhile before barneys took over that space...
if you can find out when the chelsea comme store first opened, that will tell you when the soho shop closed cause it was at the same time...

you know...
i feel like that space was a restaurant before it was the comme boutique...
i think it was "la vie en rose" which was owned by Grace Jones...
it was an amazing space...
no sign outside, just a sculpture of metal forks all welded together in the window...
like an art gallery, which is all that really existed in soho during the late 80's...

man- that was a time and a place...
