Cosmetic Dental Surgery

How much does things like brite smile cost in London? Would you just go anywhere to have your teeth bleached? Does it really make a difference? I feel it would.. but would like opinions.

I think yo would look more groomed.

I mixed up the date. It was today not Tuesday. Thank God I was able to switch my day off from work. Overall, the procedure went well. The codeine's kicking in so I feel better than an hour earlier. B)

The doctor scaled down what he wanted to do. He spoke with my orthodontist and it's better to wait till my braces are off to cut off more of the bone.

The only pain I felt was when he was numbing my mouth. I got several shots of the needle in front and in back of my teeth. OMG, I was tearing up. But it was worth it because I didn't feel the scalpel. It felt like he was scraping my teeth. Like an intense tooth cleaning. He also used a laser, but mostly for the gums in back of my teeth. He finished off by putting stitches. I have to go back in a week to have them removed.

Except for my mouth looking like a bloody mess, I'm really happy! My front teeth seem so huge now.

I think I need my back lower canines fixed because they are shaped different than they used too be from two years ago :( Now that is fun *sarcasm, sarcasm*

Hi Lady.Stardust

I'm glad it went well. I hope you're not in too much discomfort this next week and that you're pleased with the results!

I don't like my teeth after having braces. They're really upsetting me now. They look worked on--too straight, cosmetic.. They don't suit me. I don't have a perfect face, I don't want perfect teeth.

I prefer the way they used to be... But nobody asked me, I was 12. In ways, it was for the better, but now I don't like the way they look. I especially don't like how my dentist rounded off my front teeth without hardly asking me. They used to be square. The last ounce of humanity left in my teeth was drilled away.

Does anyone have information on imperfecting teeth? I don't even know exactly what I want. But I miss when my canines were up higher, and my teeth now look too round. If they were just an ounce crooked, I would be much happier. It just really doesn't suit me to have straight teeth. At the same time, I don't want whatever benefits that supposedly came out of the straightening to be thrown away.

Also, I don't know if this has to do with having braces, but my jaw is really tired all the time now. Maybe there's no correlation, but my muscles are all tense. Sometimes I feel like there's no comfortable place to rest my teeth together...

it's interesting that you say that. there's a school of thought (i forget who doh :p ) that believe the conventional way of orthodontics is completely incorrect.

I don't really trust the orthodontist i went to either. And after i found out that there are orthodontists who take a different approach to teeth alignment (looking also at the whole profile of your face etc) i felt a bit...hmmm, i wish my parents had waited... Like you, i feel like i don't know how to close my mouth properly, i.e. 'comfortable place to rest my teeth' as you put it. I also have jaw pain so i think it may stem from that.

You should approach a professional and perhaps get a referral to see a few specialists. If it's affecting your daily life you should really move to get the problem solved or you may end up with bigger problems (pain etc).

good luck.

As for rounding of the teeth, i can only think of caps or whatever they're called...where they drill down you teeth and put new ones on...but there are dangers there...like ending up like Hilary Duff. ugh. but of course, you should ask a specialist who will lay out all your options.

even though you may not be happy with your straight teeth, i'm sure you have a great smile. :flower:
