Cynthia Rowley chose the Grand Prospect Hall, a Victorian banquet hall in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, as the location for her look book shoot. “This venue, to me, is like going on a vacation,” she said. “You’re not sure where you are, the rooms are themed…we could be in Budapest. It has a very Wes Anderson vibe. It’s very eclectic.”
Rowley’s clothes, which took cues from the building’s ornate decor and architecture, featured printed brocades, embroidered lace and French woven cotton — which the designer playfully referred to as a “drug rug” — rendered in a cute pink skirt suit. The lineup’s prints and textures, including florals, paisleys and graphic knits, clashed in an artfully chic fashion. “I wanted the collection to work together with the venue — you sort of can’t tell what’s inspiring what,” Rowley said.
