from Fashion Windows said:PARIS, Feb 2, 2005/ FW/ --- Making his triumphant return to the Paris runway after a very conspicuous absence is French color king, Daniel Faret. The designer signed a Fall 2005 – Winter 2006 collection infused with the wild boy spirit of the 80’s and the British chic of the 60’s.
This collection features handsome fabrics in tweed, wool, gabardine, silks, cotton, etc. and in plaids, browns, and other earth tones.
Faret began his presentation with an ensemble. The turtleneck sweater is in deep caramel and worn with plaid pants. Parts of the turtleneck from this look also are composed of the same fabric used in the construction of these pants.
One of the most innovative looks of the collection is found in Faret’s military green sweater. This inspiration in men’s wear has a giant collar that quickly sets it apart from anything seen on the Paris runways this season. With its sleeves pulled up, it was worn with a most splendid pair of long leather gloves running up the length of the arm. Now how’s that for giving the magazine stylists to work with?
Faret has worked diligently over the past seasons to raise the level of his cuts above those of the best tailors. No one can doubt that the cuts in suits can now rival the best-known names in Italian men’s wear. This is more than apparent when looking at his superb blazers, which are cut to perfection.
The French designer did a lot of subtle yet noticeable accessories in this collection: sleek and sexy gloves, thin belts, long or giant scarves in knit.
Now although Faret’s collection is for winter, it would not be a Faret show with some form of excitement. For that, he did evening suits in dark prints.
My favorite silhouette in the latter part of the show are the pants done in milk chocolate taffeta and crowned with black roses throughout. This delicious pattern is more featured in Faret’s evening jacket done completely in this fabric and a second evening jacket done in all black with the exception of the lapels, which feature this black rose and milk chocolate taffeta.
Don't like the jacket cut too much, but I like the color palette and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE GLOVES. I. MUST. HAVE. THEM.
