Daphne Guinness

i just can never understand how she constructs her style. i don't know if style is intrinsic and you either have it or you dont, but after all the shows i've seen, clubs i've been too, and magazines i've flicked through, i just dont have the imagination and patience to even come close to looking as good as daphne. and shes always so consistent she could chnage from all black to the most colourful outfit and its still utterly her style and dna. simply phenomenal.

Here's a video that I haven't seen before:

It's great to see all her jewellery up close in such HQ, it really makes you focus attention on all the little detail she puts into things that aren't visible in most candids. Mostly because there are not that many HQ candids of Daphne! Which is really a shame! But as she mentioned in the video she's a private person so I guess that explains a lot about why we don't get many HQs.

I'm not sure but I think it's been filmed in her apartment too. I love how she has 5 or six pairs of those custom made Louboutin wedges in her shoe shelf!

I would've wanted to hear more about her view of "decorative arts and decorating the human body".. It sort of seemed to cut off at the point where she was telling about being able to learn something from history. Just when it was getting interesting! I would've liked of them to have let her go more in that direction, but I guess that's just not VOGUE FASHION ITALIA anymore. What about history can we learn through decorating ourselves? I feel a bit stupid but maybe someone else could shed a bit of light on this? ^_^

Do you think the wall piece with butterfly wings is made of real ones?

^ Thank you!! :flower: You know, with all of her 'unusual' outfits, I don't think of how really pretty she is, and what a figure for having had three kids!! :D

Awesome video. Thanks for posting anina.
Her accent is very English.
I really like her apartment.

As beautiful as she looks in that video, I think her hair/eyes are too dark. When she has a higher blonde to black ratio hairwise and wears a little less make up, she sets off her more extravagant looks much better.

Hope we see more pics of her from the Chanel event.
I'm sure her outfit is one of the more important ones there.

Big news via Twitter (probably Derek Blasberg's, but I don't remember): Daphne (in her own jewelry) closed Tom Ford's ultra-secret/super-luxe cocktail party fashion show.

^^Maybe the closing bit isn't true, as other reports put Gemma Ward as the last exit...

Tom Ford's Spring 2011 Womenswear Preview

>> Photos may have been verboten at Tom Ford's womenswear preview yesterday — with the exception of those taken by Terry Richardson — but a few have popped up, all headshots. Even Cathy Horyn posted a few.

Ford is notorious for image control, but it's rumored that the image embargo wasn't for that reason alone: Richardson's photos are reportedly an exclusive for an all Tom Ford edited issue of Vogue Paris (likely the December/January 2011 issue, the issue that the magazine annually has a guest editor for). It makes sense, considering how close Ford and Carine Roitfeld have worked together in the past (and Roitfeld reportedly skipped shows yesterday because she was preparing for Ford's).

But Ford told the New York Times that he didn't allow pictures because fashion has become overexposed in recent years, in part because of the Internet: “I want fashion to be fun again, like it was in the ’60s. You couldn’t wait to get the clothes and put them on, and I think we’ve lost that.” He added that photos will be available on his web site in December, along with a short film of the show.

The clothes, which he began working on late last spring, will be in his stores in late January or February 2011. He expects them to be very expensive: $3,500 to $5,000 for a suit, around $4,500 for a tuxedo, and a gown could be $20,000.
