Great story!, some typical Darya shots but in others she looks more mature, warmer, and completely stunning. Even if she's not doing major stuff, I love those who embrace her beauty and personality as they're usually the same people that deliver more experimental work.

I perfeclty share your point of view on this matter. And I don't really care if she is doing any major stuff, I prefer to see such high quality stories that mainstream materials that would maybe be rated as higher in terms of level but where she probably wouldn't fit at all. What she expresses isn't exactly what basically "sells" to the masses but her true talent will always be ravishing for those who have a love for independent or underground visuals.

Plus, she is getting better and better with each new story, exploring sides of herself that she used to keep hidden in a recent past. If she is still one of the best to channel melancholy or anger, she has gained feminity and can release some emotions in a softer, warmer way instead of her formely usual explosion of darkness. All this without losing her signature style.

God, these jeans are so nice. Can you tell your friend she’s not getting her jeans back, they’re so good. Really. I love New York, it’s my favourite place to live apart from Ukraine. I’ve lived in the East Village, and after that Brooklyn and then back to downtown Manhattan. It’s such a fast place but really comfortable to move around. It’s crazy in Ukraine right now because of the football. Not really my thing I guess.

To me this girl epitomizes the grunge nouveau, so the last editorial was a bit mal place, but still....she has a great gaze, even when she's addled by glam make-up...

heres a clip from the Model Agency show....seems very tense between her and the agency really kind of odd but also sad. as much as i think her attitude and tone isn't necessary I do feel bad for her, shes young and probably needs someone like family showing her affection rather than being yelled at.

It's going to be almost two years since that video, hopefully she's in a better place now, emotionally. She models less and less these days, and often for Ukrainian publications, I like to think being back home often (or permanently, I don't know) and working occasionally for publications that are smaller but probably better paid is healthy for anyone that feels lonely and wants more money than modeling.

I must say I miss her quite a lot, her editorials used to be some of my favorites but I'm always glad to see her every now and then. And I don't mind if it's in smaller or almost unknown publications... My eyes don't care much about prestige and I will always prefer a good story by a rather anonymous photographer than an uninspired shoot from a superstar of the lens. I think the story "American Beauty" perfectly illustrates that feeling of mine, the whole atmosphere is totally tongue in cheek (Darya is just the one you'd never book to embody the typical all-american beauty) and she's just hundred percent herself in all the pictures. To me, she'll always belong the group of alternative russian and ukrainian beauties, those who broke the mold of the ice queens, aliens and other dolls. Most of these girls had specific looks and were known to show a bit of attitude from time to time but it was just in tune with their "vibes" (namely Dasha Malygina, Evelina Mambetova, Ursula Kim and, of course above all others, Darya herself). They were genuinely able to express something different with their modeling, not just looking pretty and jumping around a plain set wearing expensive garments.

i love models like her... not the most classical beautiful face you've ever seen, nothing too extraordinary, but perfection in print and runway too, the photographer can use her for whatever he wants to, and it will deifinitely work.
