Broadway’s finest were tonight recognised for their works on the stage at the Tony Awards.
And Hugh Jackman was honoured with a special award during the star-studded ceremony.
The actor was presented with the one-off accolade in honour of his contribution to Broadway and for his charity work.
The 43-year-old was surprised when he saw his wife Deborra-Lee Furness emerge on the stage to present him with the trophy.
Hugh was visibly shock but couldn’t help but laugh as he was fooled by his other half.
He admitted when he took to the stage: 'She's never kept a secret her entire life. [She said] "I'm off to the loo," and I was like, "OK, see you in a bit."'
Hugh wasn’t shy of telling the world how much the sweet gesture meant to him.
He said to Deborra-Lee in front of the audience: ‘I know how much you hate public speaking. This is probably the greatest thing you've ever done for me.’
He added: ‘Really, it means the world to me.’
And Hugh’s wife said she was thrilled to have her beau back in her arms as he recently finished filming for Les Miserables.
She joked: ‘There's nothing more romantic after not seeing your husband for four months than to have our first night back together on a Broadway stage with 12 million people watching.’
how cute!
