As inspirations go, safari is a resort favorite, yet Derek Lam gave the theme a unique twist to great results. Silhouettes leaned toward oversize, i.e. a denim tunic top and olive silk anorak dress, and many of the fabrics veered technical, such as the outdoor furniture material used for a sheath dress and pencil skirt. Lam described the collection as “the fantasy of going away.” Added bonus? “It’s something interesting to buy in November.”

There must be more? But there are some lovely pieces here nonetheless. That faded demin skirt/jacket combo is cute!

The 4th look is so Balenciaga-ish / Reed Krakoff-ish / Proenza Scouler-ish, but I really like it as well as the 2nd one and the 6th one.

^^ 100% agree! Every single piece is gorgeous.

I'd love this so much more if the prints and colors weren't so unappealing. I love the loose dresses and shorts and think there's a great range of cute pieces here. The leather overall and that rusty colored dress are pretty awful, though.

Generally, I like it, some pieces even very much so, but then, I was more excited when I saw the looks in #1 than I’m now, after seeing the whole collection. I have to agree about the prints and about that rusty dress.

apart from the obvs celine orange (on a previous celine campaign model no less), this ain't half bad. loving the hell out of that striped dress.
