Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Jesus, when will designers and editors learn that deleting comments and blocking people on social media is the worst way to deal with negative feedback? Just ignore someone if you don't appreciate their opinion, or if you are triggered and wish to reply, do so in a constructive manner. You are public figures for crying out loud, it's 2018. Everything gets out and gets printscreened.

So... Anthony Vaccarello blocked me on Instagram

He posted a billboard of the recent Vincent Gallo campaign, and Asia Argento went off on the comments for what Gallo said in the AnotherMan interview and for YSL for using him as model. I couldn't even screensave it because Vaccarello immediately deleted her comment. Just for the sake of it I posted asking why he deleted her comment, and as I expected he immediately deleted my comment and blocked me.

Interesting that he's so coy about this discussion considering his boss' wife is on the same boat as Asia.

What did Gallo say? :flower:

Some fun and light drama...
Amal Clooney infuriates Tom Ford with Met Gala outfit change
By Oli Coleman

The Met Gala is over, but the fallout from a high-level fashion drama over Amal Clooney’s glamorous gown lingers on.

Page Six has exclusively learned that Amal infuriated powerful fashion forces at Vogue and designer Tom Ford’s team after his atelier had toiled for weeks to make a custom Met Gala gown for her — and she decided hours before the event not to wear it.

Media sources tell us that the famed human-rights attorney decided at the last minute to walk the red carpet in a dramatic “backup” outfit by hot British designer Richard Quinn, a bustier and pants with a billowing floral train.

We’re told that when Amal told the Tom Ford team about the last-minute change, “they were annoyed, obviously, but they were gracious, and said it was fine to go with [another designer], but they would prefer that Amal not wear the dress at all if she wasn’t going to wear it on the Met Ball red carpet.” Vogue also lobbied Amal to stick to the original script, we’re told.

Ford’s fashion house had hoped, if Amal didn’t debut the dress — a full-length crimson number designed to look like a stained-glass window, in keeping with the Met Gala’s theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” — that they would be able to show it at a different A-list occasion on another star, sources said.

But they were stunned — and furious — when Amal ignored their request and, after the media blitz of the red carpet, changed into the Tom Ford dress once inside at the more private affair. Vogue editor Anna Wintour said on “The Late Show” that Amal had insisted on changing gowns in the museum’s gift shop. Amal wore it for the rest of the night.

We’re also told that Vogue staffers — who coordinate the red carpet for the gala, often brokering arrangements between designers and stars — were mortified by the debacle, especially as Amal is Vogue’s May cover star.

Reps for Vogue and Tom Ford declined to comment, and reps for Quinn and Amal didn’t get back to us.

Team Tom in this case! The dress wasn't designed for the after party, the dress was designed for the main event. I'm actually quite amazed at the way Amal handled this situation because she's someone who's supposedly so mad about fashion, and therefore more attuned to the way it operates. Of course Tom Ford would see this as a slight. Maybe he should send her the bill for that dress.

I'm paraphrasing, but Gallo basically said Asia (that used to be his girlfriend) and Rose were self serving, that after he Gallo confronted Harvey for what he did to her he was blacklisted, but then Asia instead of supporting him basically denied it, started undermining Gallo and continued to pander to Weinstein and get roles.

I have a soft spot for Gallo but i would take everything he says with massive pinch of salt. He always gets a free pass because everyone believes what he says is part of a pose, a sort of post hipster attitude. No one takes him seriously. The truth is he was born with a massive chip on his shoulder.

The irony of her being one of the worst dressed of the main event with her Quinn piece.
I must admit that I was surprised to not see anyone dressed in TF womenswear and I guess the same thing happened with the Oscars.

Maybe he can trade a US Vogue cover from that lol

Agreed wholeheartedly!

There had to have been some sort of payoff. That Quinn outfit was a total miss.

I'm with Tom Ford and his team on this one as well, especially knowing that Tom doesn't like to push people to wear his clothes on the red carpet (i.e. doesn't pay them to wear the brand, no contractual obligations) and operates on mutual trust and friendships when dressing celebrities. It's just very unprofessional on Amal's part. She wore the Quinn piece even though she knew she'd have to change into something less dramatic inside and that something was the Tom Ford dress that they nicely asked her not to wear.

Team Tom all the way. She would ended on the best-dressed list with his "custom gown" for the evening. Yet, she decided to pick an amateur and wore Tom's creation inside the party!

I haven't seen pictures ... but I certainly have empathy for anyone tired of being ordered around by Anna. It's really rather ridiculous to orchestrate what everyone wears to this party. Scarlett followed orders and Amal didn't? Honestly I feel like kissing anyone giving Anna the finger, and that goes double since it's Amal ... who actually does something worthwhile with her time.

i second that.

I read somewhere on vogue's (insta?) caption about Clooney's dress to the main party something like..."but the real hightlight is the Tom Ford's dress she wore to the after party..."

I havent seen that Tom Ford's dress she wore after, but the first dress does looked pretty, and maybe she just wanted to champion a newcomer?

I guess an event like this is not just about fashion, money comes to play mostly i guess

Amal's dress was based on a dress from Spring Summer 2014 and I've heard that they remain very unhappy about her decision.

This is the dress.

Vetements, Richard Quinn had the Queen attend his runway show. If that doesn't guarantee you a ticket in fashion, then nothing will. He'd have been fine without Amal dragging that overwrought duvet cover.

Come to think of it, Anna sat next to the Queen at that show. In a shocking twist, what if Anna knew Amal would go this rogue? Wouldn't put it past her, she's rather crafty.

I second this as well, but I suppose if one gets on her bad side she'll probably not only ban them from vogue and the met gala (they're boring anyway) but also not allow any of her designer "friends" dress said person (that part would suck)

the met gala has apparently become the "kiss up to Anna" contest, and that's rather sad

yes, and YES.

And lol at the catastrophe of being banned from Vogue and gasp, the Met Gala. For someone that has made a career going after some of the most violent governments around the world defending journalists and political prisoners, I'm sure Amal will get insomnia wondering how easier her life could've been if she had just worn a red dress instead of the floral one.

I think the problem has less to do with her wearing the dress than for the way she handle it. She could have said earlier that she wanted the Richard Quinn and Tom would have dressed someone else for the main event and maybe created another dress for Amal to wear at the after party.

Tom only dress one person/per event. I think Anna just tried to do damage control by mentioning Tom on TV and all.

Of course an event like that it’s not only about fashion. When brands buys table and designers choose or are advised to dress someone, it’s already politics involved.

But i’m sure this will not alter Anna’s or Amal’s relationship with Tom.

Amal would have been more diplomatic if she asked Quinn to wear a RTW dress from his collection at the after-party.

Honestly this all just makes Amal look more powerful, and those fuming less so ;) And I think the other dress looks better on her (she looks like a faceted red toothpick in the TF dress), and makes more of a statement on the red carpet. It's more fun. She did what she wanted to do ... more people should.

I would love to know the names of the actresses who said no before Scarlett said yes.

Thanks for the enlightenment, i didnt know that he is such a big shot!

and likes and dislikes for Amal Clooney aside, i went look up the Tom Ford dress and still think the Quinn one is prettier and more appropriate, the only fault she has committed is perhaps not being politically correct.
and more kudos to her if if she intentionally meant to give Wintour the middle finger (i doubt that s the case though)

Thanks Lola! It's just diplomacy, something you'd think an 'international lawyer' would be very familiar with. Just tell Tom his dress would be a option, and she's exploring other designers. What was so bad about that?

As for her not being pressed over the wrath of the Anna (which includes Vogue, the Met, CN magazines, designers etc)? I can believe that to some extent when we are talking about Amal, the lawyer. But Amal, the Hollywood wife is a slave to the fashion game much like Kim Kardashian! This 'international lawyer' who had no business covering Vogue, being guest of honour at a fashion gala, prancing around at the royal wedding like she's royalty herself and generally running around town looking like some starlet and knowing full and well that her looks will end up on style blogs will certainly feel the scorn. I don't pity Amal at all. I pity that poor fashion assistant or ghost stylist (take your pick) who will get an earful next time they try to seek out custom looks.
