Are we sure all of these girls posted are fit models? Or are some just girls that the designer tends to cast, season after season?

We're never sure unless we get videos or photos of the girls being fitted on. I just think it's pretty easy to spot a fit model: just look for the odd one out, who's walking one show season after season.
Amanda Laine for example, was a very popular model in 2008. Now she's only doing Pucci every season. I doubt someone else wouldn't cast her, even if it's a smaller show. So that's why I think she's a fit model.

^^Of course. I think for the most part it's pretty obvious - Terri-Ann at Rick, Shelly at Marc, Johanna at Balenciaga, Amanda at Chanel, etc.

Someone like Irina Kulikova, though, simply seems like a model that Galliano liked using often as opposed to specifically being his fit model. You never know, though.

^no, i dont think irina is gallionas fit model either, because being a fit model is time consuming and you wouldnt have time to go to castings or shows prior to the show.

^I think she is the fit model for Rabanne now. She's been in their show for the last two seasons.

^ I wouldn't be surprised if Maria Kashleva is the Gaultier fit model right now. But it's not uncommon to have more than one girl I think. I distinctly remember Morgane Dubled, Viviane Orth and Michaela Kocianova being the Dior fit models for the F/W 0708 couture collection. It was a humongous collection, so three fit models wouldn't be a luxury. I've experienced working at brands with as little as 40 pieces per collecion and we would have two girls per season as well. Also to speed things up during fittings.

who become a fit model/ what is the point of it? these models have the best, most perfect body in the opinion of designers?

fit models are actually paid quite well usually because they have to maintain a certain body standard for the designer's looks. They are the body measurements that each collection will be based off of. I am assuming models who necessarily are not popular on the runways or in editorials will take the job because it guarantees them a paycheck every season. It is time consuming as well so they cannot always do a million and one shows.

Not to mention, less travel and competition and their age being less relevant.
All translating to - longer career/steady income.

Amanda Sanchez who was mentioned earlier is fit model for Chanel:

Call it a “muse-off”: Today, high-profile Chanel muse Caroline de Maigret turned her iPhone lens on another—the high-flying, low-profile model Amanda Sanchez—as she circled the tricked-out dice joint of a runway at Chanel’s couture show. Sanchez has been walking for the storied house since 2001, a legendary number of years for any career in the modeling industry, and plenty more than fan favorites like Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner (combined!). But unlike her high-profile contemporaries, Sanchez has never appeared in a campaign or secured a coveted opening or closing spot on the runway.

Sanchez’s relatively low-key position in the modeling industry is no surprise: The Brazil native, now in her mid-thirties, is Chanel’s fit model. It’s a position that’s typically a no-frills type of job—involving working in-house and on-call for the designer to base collections off of their proportions. Unlike Sanchez, a regular on the Chanel runway, fit models typically do not appear in shows. But Sanchez is more than a behind-the-scenes staple. Her Instagram feed, @amandasanchez, is mostly filled with photos of the models posing on the spiral staircases at Chanel’s headquarters at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, often hashtagged with phrases like “#secondhome” or “#waitingfortheboss.”

Despite her relative anonymity, Sanchez possesses an off-kilter, transfixing beauty that is more striking than cookie-cutter, and one that totally fits in within the codas of the house—think previous campaign stars like de Maigret, Saskia de Brauw, and Freja Beha Erichsen—all dark, memorable features, slivered cheekbones, an angular, elegant nose, and an inky mane of hair. And coupled with a devil-may-care cool and under-the-radar profile? Maybe we’ve cracked the secret to staying on the most hotly anticipated runway of the season for nearly two decades.
