Designers You've Met

So far I didn´t have the chance to speak with any "big" players yet, I did with Bruno Pieters, Stephan Schneider, Anne Valérie Hash, Kris Van Assche, Eley Kishimoto, Blaak, Hamish Morrow and House of Jazz (I wonder if anybody remembers them nowadays). All of the Belgians I met so far are very warmhearted people and very approachable, I think I like Stephan best of all of them, I once had dinner with him and his assistants and was very nicely taken care by him and his team when I went to Antwerp once to attend the Academy´s open day...

I saw Ann Demeulemeester at the showroom for her S/S 2006 womenswear and she´s actually very petite and fragile looking, yet looked very energetic in her tough boots tucked into jodhpurs... I only briefly spoke with her when she asked me to hand her a jacket I just had my hands on, which she was intending to show to Grace Coddington... :innocent:

I also saw Olivier Theyskens walking down the street in the Marais district, wearing some odd blue jogging pants, I just came out of a showroom with my partner and I was arguing with her making some strange gestures, at least that´s what I assume why he stared at me like I was an alien... well, maybe I was because of my outfit, I wore riding boots tucked into black jeans, and a silver sequinned skarf...

I would love to meet Alber as well. How brave of you to just say hi to him!

;)

I'd feel guilty & sorry for the rest of my life if i didn't talk to him, i adored him since the 1st collection for YSL, for me it is so far the best collection that presented YSL by another designer.

I still feel the excitment of meeting him....:woot:

That's very cool, taz! And let's get this straight, shopping malls in the Middle East such as your city and Dubai are most certainly not like the generic shopping malls of American & British standards.

...

i do agree ...shopping malls in Dubai are amazing, each mall there has different theme & atmosphere....the biggest mall in the world will be opening there next year I guess along with the highest skyscraper & it will have most of the high end fashion brands...it is called Dubai Mall.....

.....well back to topic ....Alber Elbaz is so charming:wub: & friendly, he was carrying a huge doctor bag which looks a bit funny ... iloved him more after meeting him..

Raf at his stock sale, and Dries during & after a couple of his menswear shows. But I'm Flemish so maybe that doesn't count :D

I have met Stella McCartney, Tom Ford, John Galliano, Markus Lupfer, Paul Smith, Rifat Ozbek, Zandra Rhodes, Raphael Lopez, the designers of Boudicca and Preen, the Sass & Bide girls...thats all I can think of right now.

I know traver and richie of heathertte reasonably from parties and such.

I actually ran into traver and amanda lepore last night at Happy Valley NYC

I have not met...but have seen Marc Jacobs twice walking the streets of New York...but I felt that I wouldn't want to be bothered while just casually strolling, and neither would he.

Not what I would call a designer, but still, the very cool creator of American Apparel.

Yeah,Dries was walking the opposite side of the street as I one day....and he gave a very hawk-like glance. And I was in Walter and the man himself was there staring at me like an owl....unfortunately,as I said,I didn't have the guts to really approach him at the time. I was sort of still standoff-ish and timid. Belgian designers I notice are extremely observant.

Some of you all are really lucky to have met some of the one's you have.

edit: I forgot to add that Dirk Van Saene walked right passed me brushing against me. I didn't realise till a few feet down the pavement that it was actually him.

I didn't meet, but saw Michael Kors. I attended a fashion show he put on in Chicago (Marshall Fields) that benefitted charity. I could have met him had I paid more money, but it was enough just to see the show ;)

the other customer in the store asked me if it was Christian LaCroix and I was like  you're so right...;)

oh chris.. inter would have loved to be in your shoes!!! christian lacroix is her very favourite designer ever! she has lots of his designer clothes and even collects his catalogs and such... i have to tell her your story first time in the morning tomorrow!

btw.. she kind of got to meet (well, more like she saw) Giorgio Armani a few years back. at that time, this exhibition of her most legendary dresses and outfits was being held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and back then my friend used to work for the Cirque du Soleil company and she saw Giorgio attending one of their Soleil shows with this Japanese lady. My friend was eager to go up to him and say hi but she just couldnt leave her workplace unattended...:(!

Some of those are big enough players for me,tricotine;)

Actually, even though it's said of all Belgians,I hear Bruno is particularly down-to-earth. I mean,he is the only one who literally(that said, because most say working at a Belgian's atelier is like family) has a family member working with him...his mum.

I met Issey Miyake, he came to my school for a presentation. He is one of the nicest people I have met and extremely down to earth. He talked to me after his presentation and also exclaimed at how attractive my friend Jade was.

yes, & she was so proud with him, & he as well...they seem to be veryhappy with each other.
the funny thing is that i was trying to hide my Gucci watch & YSL sunglassess...i was afraid that anything has to do with TOM FORD might irrtate him.

i loved the way he is speaking , very slow ,relaxed & his voice is low...he is so peaceful man.

seeing Lacroix is an amazing thing.. i guess he is a nice person as well.
