You have a choice whether to buy a beautiful pair of diamond earrings or a nice classy and elegant watch (or your dream watch).

Which one of these would you choose and why?

earrings first! then watch!

you can always use your cell phone to tell time nowadays.

Watch. I don't know. Diamond earrings are nice but you can wear a watch everyday. I'd rather change my earrings up. Watch is something so classic and timeless. So are earrings but earrings are a bit more 'blah' in my opinion.

I think I would get a watch. It'd be a very hard decision for me because I think strong earrings and watches are important.

watch- you can wear it everyday...earings you can always wear non-diamond ones and still look fabulous- but you can go cheap woth a watch!

definitely watch. diamond studs are overdone, not really unique. a great watch can be more of a statement piece, even if it's something simple.

I was going to say earrings but reading mundodabolsa's post then I realise that they really are overdone! I mean I could go to my supermarket and buy some studs which look like diamonds. So watch :P

depends on the watch. if you can get something that can go up in value or it will never decrease, then go for the watch.

diamond studs are great for everyday....
however, lets assume one doesnt have either then the WATCH comes first.
of course its got to be a good watch.
i was always told that a watch is vital if you are a serious business man/woman.
its true, i always look at someones watch automatically as it finsishes off an outfit.
i always go either with a great watch or NO watch
but earrings can be fashion ones

Diamonds. The value of a good diamond never decreases.

Very, very wrong. The second De Beers let go the market floods and prices tumble. A manufactured shortage is the only thing keeping the prices up. Diamonds may be forever, but their value definitely won't.

That said, I would go for earrings. I use fake studs every day and would love to have the real thing and I never ever use a watch - wristwatches and bracelets bother me.

I guess I am just basing my remark off common depreciation value not neccessarily on the supply demand curve. Also because my father is a HUGE watch fiend. I have had a Tissot, Alba, Cartier already before my 18th birthday. But diamonds? I had to ask for them for my 21st birthday. I actually asked for diamond earring studs. Whyever would you want something practical, eh?

I would get the a watch, it's an essential. I have studs but hardly wear them. Personally, I think an ugly watch but sizable earrings doesn't match, but a nice watch and fashion earrings is fine....diamonds have crummy resale value unless over a certain size anyway. I would rather get one fantastic watch that I love, but you gotta look about for one and it doesn't sound you have a dream watch in mind. If you cannot find a watch you love then I'd go for the studs at least you will be sure you love it.

Surely a watch. You can't even compare the value and style of a watch to that of earings. Sure diamond studs are classic and chic, but they are also common. Watches can be far more unique and act as powerful asserters of style. I am currently lusting painfully after a few new watches and hope to get one in the new few months...
