Diesel Menswear S/S 2022 Milan

This is exactly what I had anticipated from Glenn Martens' full fledged debut.

It's really solid, more than half the looks I can definitely get in to, and the Tik Tokers are gonna go bananas for the cutout Diesel logo tops and the shirts that interlock with the belts.

The last part of the collection (excluding the final 4 looks ) are really fun. It's definitely an awesome commercial offering from Glenn without being too safe!

I remember when they announced the "Diesel Reboot" several years ago. I think they´d better erased it all. It´s like a chicken without head, running while pretending to be still alive.

Poor Glen, what was he thinking when he accepted the job? I want to hope he was disenchanted/cynical enough to do it just for the money and that he had no real intention to revive this hopeless case of a brand.
I find most of the looks incredibly tacky and, judging from the people I see on the street who still wear Diesel, I guess they are far from appreciating Marten's experimental touch, albeit watered down for the mass market.

The question is always the same: who is this for?

I'm afraid the answer is also always the same: tasteless label pigs in third-tier Chinese cities.

Bruno get your lawyers ready cause those Chanel inspired denim jackets deserve a lawsuit. If your atelier is not capable of doing it, don't do it because the results are laughable at best.

And those pink pants, Olivier R finally have a worthy opponent.

And those organza things, I can go on and on.

I don't hate this. It's his first collection and there are definitely some interesting ideas here. I'm just glad that someone is finally giving this brand some life again.

They should have better kept Andreas Melbostad and given him the chance to evolve Diesel Black Gold further to his own vision than to install Glenn Martens for this rubbish...

I think it's quite strong, it still has his signature style (which has been growing on me as of late) but it's less tricky and more apt for everyday life. I don't think he (or anyone for that matter) will succeed in making Diesel a prestigious label but if it serves to finance Glenn's own label, I'm all for it.

I do not think this will be enough to reboot Diesel.
The problem with Diesel is less about fashion than it’s about Culture. They have had great designers, great stylists over the years but Diesel is a brand people associate with a certain era. Men wore Diesel and women wore Miss Sixty…

This is one of those cases where they needs those guys like Heron Preston, the guy from Kith, Marine Serre or one of those who collaborated with Gaultier or even someone like Kerby Jean Raymond. Someone more in pulse with culture than fashion…

This for millennials who listen to Travis Scott, idolize Virgil Abloh and collects Jordan’s. You have to make them believe that Diesel, mich like Dior (with their logo stuff) can be a part of their universe…

The collection itself is terrible. People are ok with looking ridiculous in Balenciaga. Diesel is not that IT yet to propose such a silly collection.

I think having designers that have the hype and understand the culture, having a visually strong stylist can help Diesel the way Koller helped Lacoste. Before Suzanne working with the brand Lacoste mostly survive on crocodile polo shirts and tennis wear. Now I noticed a lot of people around me really looking for Lacoste RTW. They may not aware who she is but the styling really help selling the clothes. It's still feel high fashion but the products still feel connect with the house.

Diesel now is like an Italian Calvin Klein mostly selling denim and underwear now. Glenn can pulled all these stunts but at the end of the day half of these won't make it to the store. So why not just create something easy to wear for a brand like Diesel.
