that's just sad, trying to rip off people who don't know enough about the brand....but back on topic i'm looking to buy a pair of dior homme jeans but i hear the quality is rapidly decreasing with each new collection, no more selvage denim etc. i recently found out about a store in a'dam that still carry stuff from votc and luster and other older dior collections so that would be a better idea?

which store is this?
I also live in Amsterdam.

How are the prices at the store?

I noticed that he constantly bombards the Dior Homme search on eBay with multiple auctions of his suits at a very high price.

Does anybody actually fall for his auctions? Cause I don't think he's making any money at all, considering that he has to pay all those eBay fees for his unsold expensive auctions.

I think relisting an unsold item on eBay is free. Also, some sellers replace different items under the same auction number

as for jeans, in my opinion in 05 there wasn't a decrease in quality, though this has become conventional wisdom. In fact, the change was in the type of texture (simple diagonal twill for pre 04: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ , whereas broken twill for 05 \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/) and in the shape of the jeans, more tight on the back an upper part of the pants, bootcut on the hem. The result is a very confortable jeans, with no baggy effect on the back. Maybe less fashionable, but perfectly following the shape of the leg.

Sadly people fall for them more often than you'd like to think. The suits maybe not as much (although the "smaller" sized ones seem to do quite well although you never know if they're listing american sizing... paying $800 for a 44 and then realizing it's actually a 56 in euro sizing would seriously piss me off). The shoes he puts up, as disgustingly horrific as they are, have sold consistently.

General rule of thumb?

Don't buy anything on ebay from China, Singapore, Central America, South America, or Africa.

haha, Hong Kong can go either way. Both a location where you can buy real DH items (There's at least one DH boutique there), and a place where faking is rampant.

Also, not sure about CD pour homme... but you can bet the quality and cuts aren't that great. The 30 Avenue Montaigne line had creative guidance by Hedi and they actually still use the CD stamped rectangular half plastic half metal zipper pulls from early DH. I'm pretty sure it's also a cheaper line too albeit a bit harder to find.

The broken twill weave is used on all orange overdye version jeans.

However, the staple black distressed and blue distressed from S/S'03 which are reissued every season seem to be declining in terms of denim quality. They're still Made in Japan, YKK rivets, chainstitched hems and all (unlike the broken twill orange dye jeans) but the distressing/whiskering/wrinkling is simply not as beautiful/pronounced as before. They were actually okay until S/S'05 as i have/had pairs from S/S'03, A/W'04, A/W'05.

i find it very intimidating posting in this thread because of all the dior homme hardcore guys

i know most of you here hated this collection but what would you say were the key pieces of the s/s 06, the red suspenders and the cropped jackets?

and am i the only one here who wants to kill them selves for not buying the red jeans from s/s 05? i shall now invest in a pair of the pink pastells from this season

I would say the red suspenders were a key piece in the collection, but they should be purchased elsewhere. I think the little belted trench is real a key item as well. It would last you through many seasons (the style at least), and is just a great piece. Other than that, and some of the more opulent blatently Dior Homme pieces, I would say really the whole collection was about that look (obviously), which can really be achieved through the shorter pant leg, the shorter jackets, and possibly some suspenders, shades, and maybe a fedora.

As for the red jeans, you are not the only one. I almost ordered them from another store, as the NY one was sold out. I am now wishing I did.

I thought that that was a leather goods line with the pecari calfskin wallets (although I doubt Hedi had anything to do with those, but I wouldn't know...), etc? Or are we talking about the same thing?

hmm, could be something different.

There are 30 avenue montaigne clothes as well. They have a white tag on them with "30 avenue montaigne Christian Dior" on them. They show up every so often under Dior Homme. yet another case of someone trying to pass off something less for something more.

I would consider the Pecari scheisse (did I say scheisse?) part of the Dior Homme luggage line considering it is sold at the DH boutique in NY whereas avenue montaigne pieces aren't.
*no ebay links please*

On a side note, my neon green hoodie arrived today :D
now it is laying happily on top of my neon blue. Also got a pair of the Luster fingerless gloves... but I may sell them if anyone is interested.

The PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam started their sales 2 weeks ago.
Also at Shoebaloo there is a 30% discount on the FW collection.
