Some pieces you can tone down... but this one... i'd like to see a solution...

^ I think it would be much more wearable if you paired it with a plain tee and jeans. I think I could wear it out to a party or something and make it work.

Still with a plain tee and a pair of jeans.. that see-through effect and those ruffles on the front.. it is still very flamboyant... (unless a black tee of course)

if you paired it up with a black blazer and wearing a black t-shirt under it... it might just work...

well.. atleast that's how i would wear it if it was in my possession

Good luck with it.. :D

I would totally see myself wearing this shirt, probably more so in black but the nude is fine as well. The see-through effect can easily be toned down with a tank underneath, I´d probably never wear it as styled in the show, with the clashing colours and the thrown-together feel, however, if you keep it simple with colour though, this would totally work and look fabulous... even if worn just under the jacket.

As it is styled in the show.. it's just a little bit over the top...

.. but yeah, exactly, a simple colour could do the job...

if i absolutely had to wear it, i would throw on a jacket, because i'm not much for wearing the shirt just like that.. it would be too flamboyant..

but the shirt itself is wonderful... much like the black shirt with some sort of extended collar, which you can tie a bow with... and that black shirt with red polka dots

No, but I liked the overall victorian/edwardian feel of those bow-tied, ruffled shirts. there was a delicacy in these clothes that I liked, from the taffetta, to the silk charmeuse and even the printed chiffons. I don´t know, I feel that with a Dior Homme look, there should be at least one piece that is a bit risqué. That´s why I personally thought F/W 2004 was a pretty boring season, it was basically all there already, except from the long pleated skirts.

Agreed.

And I still need to find myself one of those ! :flower:

^I agree...I loved all the ruffled shirts as well. I was actually even drawn to the completely over the top ruffled cape and gold shirt:blink: ...seperately of course.

:woot: I´d soooo like to see how you´d wear that skirt, Winston! I personally didn´t like Hedi´s that much, but I was more than once tempted to buy something similar from Yohji Yamamoto... I still have romantic views about traditional asian clothes, I miss the days in which Hedi also had subtle japanese/asian influences in his clothes... the aikido pants, the highwaisted, belted full trousers from S/S 2003 (from which I gladly happen to own a black pair ) and the modernized kimonos/ obi belts. I also felt that the overall colour composition, the clear black, white and a strong colour accent with occassionally lacquered surfaces, were very japanese in a way... *sigh*

if that shirt didn't have the ruffles it could work.

Funny, because these I didn´t like too much - It´s probably the ruffles, you can tell that Hedi is not that experienced in real couture craftsmanship, I bet this would have looked much better if executed by the Chanel Haute Couture ateliers. And to confirm the pricing; the ruffled cape had been explained as the most expensive piece in the collection, not the white leather jacket with flowers embroidery... ;)

Getting all reminiscent, eh?!

I'm actually not too sure how i'd wear the skirt, most definitely with a pair of jeans underneath as proposed on the runway, i suppose! I remember Harrods having one during that season but i simply couldn't justify the price

Are these the trousers you're referring to? The baggy ones that came with the belt supplied?

If so, i had the exact pair in black as well!! :woot: Unfortunately i sold them after that same Summer as i felt they just weren't me, i sort of regret it now.. :ninja:

Japanese influence in Red Collection was very strong... i would like to own a few of those pieces...

Yeah, I meant exactly these!

I have them in the poly/cotton blend that has ever since become a classic fabric in the DH collection... it´s good because they have a very distinct drape, they are lightweight, yet a little stiff as well. They also had them in a lightweight tuxedo fabric, not Grain de Poudre but another one which was also VERY beautiful but triple the price of the cotton/polys...! I personally don´t like the pants worn low as seen here, they look much better worn high waisted, in my opinion... I got so many complements when I wore those, but I figured out it is very difficult to find a pair of shoes to go with them... I ALWAYS wore them with traditional japanese zori sandals, those with a tatami sole and black velvet thong strap.

Ahhh, there were actually many pieces I still want from Follow Me, but especially the tailcoat that Skin is wearing in the video of her first debut single, "Trashed".

^ Ohh.. those pants from Follow Me are to die for... how much damage to your pocket ?

You´d be very surprised to hear they retailed for about the same price as a pair of JEANS... I remember I payed around 380€ for those... pretty reasonable for a very sophisticated, particular design as this.

I too had the poly/cotton composition, though i had no idea that they came in other fabric variations. Isn't poly/cotton the best all rounder, though?! I ended up selling my full cotton blazer from this collection as it creased too much, the blended composition one is far better!

One of the main reasons for not keeping hold was actually because as you say, it was so darn difficult to find shoes that would go with them, and i refuse to wear sandals (i also refuse to wear shorts :D).

Although not my favourite, i think Follow Me was one of the best all-round collections presented. It retained the classicism/elegance of the early collections, it had all the tailoring (i wish i bought the sleeveless tux!), the military/safari jackets, the tight pants, the loose pants, the jeans, the scarves, the toile de coton shirts, the sandals, the boots, the shiny blue & silver silk suits.. and it worked, balanced & coherent

The baggy trousers i recall were £200 odd?

the ones for DH i don't care for, because they are to diagonal. plus it seems to have lapels
