Doc Martens revival

Doh, the pointed toe Doc Martens just arrived today and they were too small . They are definitely very cute , even when I tried it on with my work clothes. Fortunately, the same exact pointed toe boot but in a bigger size (read: MY size) was also on ebay, so I BIN'd it. Couldn't stand to wait around and make a bid for it so I just bit the bullet and nabbed them!

This Doc Martens trend definitely has legs, though (a chick was featured on the sartorialist a few days ago wearing a pair of light pink DM ankle boots, and they looked totally cute)...so if you're jonesing for a pair, I suggest you hit ebay right away and get them while they are going for relatively cheap.

^ congrats! :flower: Post up a pic when you can!

I love the ones in #129 :crush:

I used to have a black pair with gold suns, moons & stars I had for years which I loved & wore to death. I got three pairs in TK Maxx about 3 years ago for £6.00 a pair (red suede, white shiny & green matte). They are so excruciating to wear in, so gave them to a friend as I had gone off the idea of them. Bet she's so glad I did!

hi guys... i've been a long time member here but haven't really posted much.

here's my deal.. i just bought my first new pair of Docs in a LONG time.. i got these off ebay because i loved the detailing on the toe. you can't see it in these pix but they have oxford detailing and cutouts around the toe... like a traditional boys oxford shoe. i also love the color

they also have a bit of a 1" wedge heel instead of the traditional flat Doc sole. I'm torn on whether or not i should have my shoe maker somehow change the sole so that it is the traditional flat Doc sole.. could they do that? shave it flat maybe? or put on a brand new sole? i don't really care if they don't say "doc marten" on the bottom.

anyway.. what do you think? is the wedge different and cool? or is it just a tad dorky?

GlissadeJete, I don't think they are weird at all, in fact you wear them just the way they were intended...why go mainstream when you found something quirky that suits you so well. go with it, you look fabulous. :flower:

thanks for posting., fantastic picture.

I got my black 1460 8 eye's for xmas! I wore them with skinny jeans today and they look fab. I'll post pics tomorrow.

i've been badly wanting a pair of flower-print doc martens lately...
am i crazy?
i mean i do really like them BUT-
will i look to much like a hippie?
and i'm not really sure how i would wear them...

what do you guys think?

i actually came sooo close to order a pair of ebay...
but two different auctions, i was outbid both times
is that a good thing? should i try some more or no?

Yes I see Docs making a splash. I plan on getting a pair of the 1940s, then cutting the leather down two lace holes to give the idea of superflouocity (yes I just made that word up, but how do you think architectonic became part of the American vernacular?). My own personal statement on society's obsession with excess.

No i too have been eyeing these up .. i love them in a sort of grungey/hippy'esqe vibe.. i had a pair as a kid and have been missing them ever since .. only problem is i dont think this design is still in production .. hense why they are so hard to come by .. i personally prefare the floral ones in the lighter colours over the darker ones for some reason .. just personal preferance though :flower:

okay, i am scouring e-bay then :boxer:
3rd times a charm...

but how would you wear them?
they are ankle height, so would skinny jeans work?
or a skirt, maybe?

yea skinnys, leggings, skirts anything really they are still quite high like so u get away with it :) i have 8 hole black ones that i dont wear much differntly to my 12 holes tbh xx

I'd keep them the way they are. Doc's are hard to change soles AKAIK anyways, so you'd be better off I think getting another pair and mix it up.

yeah.... I already fell in love with and ordered a pair of black 14 hole docs from zappos last night!!! So I am about to be drowning in Doc heaven!
