i like the brown ones
but its hard to tuck your jeans into that length of boots without zippers

The ones with the faces is interesting... where did you see those?

I used to have a pair when I was 6 and they were red patent and I hated them. I referred to them as my clown shoes. My mom always used to make me wear them despite my freaking out at the mere sight of them. I even tried to throw them in the garbage a few times, but they somehow always found their way back!!

Anywho, so now, 16 years later I'm desperate for a pair again hah. Not red patent though!! I'm thinking of the taller one but I'm kind of worried that if I tucked them into skinny jeans that they would make my legs look short? They're already pretty short to begin with and I don't want to look stout. Any opinions?

I have a pair hidden in my closet somewhere! Haha, I need to dig them out! The only time I remember wearing them was with skirts. Would they look alright with pants? Skinnies?...tucked in, out?...

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before as I haven't been through the whole thread (apologies if this is repeating anything) but the docs that are on sale currently are no longer made in the UK. They are made in India to a lesser quality standard of manufaction and materials. I recently bought a pair to repalce my old ones and they sliced right through my ankles where they creased. I could'nt wear them, plus the leather was in no way like they used to be. The resson for this is that the UK company went out of business in the late 90's and only two factories continued to make boots. They are now under the trade names 'Tredair' and 'Gripfast' and have good reviews. The Docs on sale now are licenced under that name but definatly no where near what they used to be. Just a prior warning for the Doc Martin faithfuls.

I have invested in Knightsbridge Military/Ranger style boots (widly available in Germany and on the internet) and I am very impressed with them. (the burgundy/ ox-blood colour is way too brown though- I sent them back) TNT is also a receomended brand. I fancy a pair of black patent leather ones.

anyone know where i can get some vegan-friendly/faux leather ones?

I thought I would reminice about my first pair of docs. They were bought for about £40.00 in the DM shop in Liverpools Bold Street (now a 'Warehouse'). They were matt black in a finish called 'grease' which was kind of waxy- and 'self-healing'. I loved them beacuse they were so comfy and were different from all my freinds pairs. They also has a more oval toe than the classic ones. Has anyone else had the grease finish ones? I wore them with everything rom jeans to liberty print baby doll dress (I was into Grunge-Goth style). I even wore them under my prom dress- a Victorian burgundy taffeta ball gown! (it was floor length so you could'nt see them) I love how they are being worn now- much more stylish than back then.

My next pair were from a carboot sale which used to have a whole table of second hand docs for £3.00 a pair! My local vintage shop is asking £25.00 now!. However we always considered genuine Army/ para boots as 'cooler' and more edgy but I could never get a pair in a UK3. I would'nt wear docs now beacuse of the punk and grunge conneratations. I am happy I have my Military copy boots now in my size. *Silly grin*

Anyone got white DM, I am VERY VERY tempted...but not sure if I want DM's or some really really cute high heeled white lace up boots i've seen in KG??
Anyone? ;)

I saw Agyness Deyn wearing docs and I decided to go for it. I loove wearing them. They are comfy and really unorthodox in socal (from what I've seen, No one wears them) and that's what I love about them. They are so cute with a floral dress and black tights or straight leg jeans. Con- sucks breaking them in !!
