Well since Greatfire doesn´t want to stand out - what is actually worn by students in the US? I am asking, because here the coat most definitely wouldn´t get any weird looks.

The coat looks fabulous, so I say wear it Who cares what the atmosphere is? A black coat like that is pretty practical and versatile (sp?) You can't go wrong with this

i think i wouldn't even give it a second thought...it's a smart, basic coat, you could wear it anywhere! except maybe not the beach...that'd be a little warm

Well, depends on what part of the US, though it's mostly t-shirts, jeans, and sweaters and hoodies around this season. Anything super comfortable and cheap, as you have to wear it daily. Every now and then you'll see someone dressed really nice, mainly the girls, but it's rare. Nice clothes are left for night/going out.

I have two similar coats, and usually where it with jeans as well as dress pants.

Out of curiosity, what else would you wear, really? Do most people wear a puff jacket or athletic jacket maybe?

At my school a large number of men wear coats.

i say wear it. it's basic and quite simple. of course, if it makes you uncomfortable and if it'll bother you the whole time then don't. i personally prefer that kind of coat than a puff jacket.

one should only wear what they feel comfortable in. if you feel comfy in this coat going to college, wear it
