vogue.itA little preppy, a little gangster: the season of jazz is coming with the 2014 fall/winter Dsquared2 collection. The obsessive attention that Dean and Dan Caten give to the details of the shape and a more relaxed fit, in a perfect Forties style, are the collection’s main features, faithfully told through Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott’s pictures for the new ad campaign.
A season that marks a very important moment in the brand’s history, as it is coming in contact with a formalwear that, despite continuing the ironic and modern verve that characterizes Dsquared2’s creations, makes elegant sartorial cuts of the early past century available for the modern man. Each fit bares the name of a city and has been thought out, now and again, for a specific type of man.
“It all started with the fit of the Napoli jacket,” explain Dean and Dan Caten. “That double-breasted jacket was so beautiful, super jazzy, it reminded us how our father used to dress in the Forties; and so we started asking ourselves: what does this man do? Where does he go? He is in a club, he’s a musician. And that’s where it all started.”
