I'm not crazy about their designs. I have seen a few pieces that are ok though.

That was a review on Dean Dan's Spring '04 collection for their label DSquared by Suzy Menkes. I agree with Suzy on the issue on sly modernity but then again I agree with Cathy (Horyn NY Times) that this was strictly old business: girls in hot pants riding pinion on choppers as they zoom up to the burger-and-furter shack. Those real daredevils, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who showed a truly funny D&G collection, featuring rodeo skirts and tight leather jumpsuits prime for rousing the good old boys at the Winston 500, should put the adorable Caten twins over their knee and spank 'em.

They should stick to what they really do best.

Though, I really like some of their pieces. Though they seem ordinary it posses a lot of wit and mostly their fun.

As far as the clothes go, it's not really my style, and looks kind of 'cheap' IMO.

The shows themselves though, from what I have seem do tend to have a lot of entertainment value, if that is what you are after. They seem to have a lot of fun working, which is nice to see. :flower:

Nice to see that they don't take themselves too seriously :winkiss:

some of it is edgy, but definitely not my style. I'm more conservative...and clean. The skirt in the first pic is unique, I think.

I think its the epitomy of sexy. I know people usually call them trashy and gross, but to me I think their cuts their presentation their materials are wonderfully edgy and provocative - I'm in love with their clothes, they're great designers! its fun clothing, fun to look at, and fun to wear
who could see maria carla with the blue dress and not love their design?? its gorgeous, in your face, upfront fashion :p
Actually, what I like most about it (whether you hate or love thier clothes) is that they make you realize what fashion is all about - making bold statements whether or not its what people want to see/wear. I respect that. :innocent:

isn't Fashion like art where people who creative have the freedom to do whatever they want?..and then whoever likes it - likes it..they obvi kno how to design it's just that some people don't like their clothes but it's like that for all designers. give me 1 name that 100% of people think is amazing

Right on tiffany and xclusive! :flower:

I don't think their clohtes are hooker gear, it's just the styling. If you remove all the clothes that came down their SS '04 runway from the models and place them in a store piece by piece and you picked up one you would just think it was a sexy short or vampy top. It just looks like that becuase they had to put all thier clohtes together for the runway - and all their clothes are sexy.

    .. and what Galliano's S/S '04 collection wasn't?
