Does anyone know what happened to Edie's family after the book? Are all of them still alive?

^ I too wonder about what happened to them. very sad. I read on imdb that Edie's niece, Misha Sedgwick (Mischa?) is an aspiring actress and isn't Kyra Sedgwick related to her?

Yeah Kyra Sedgwick is her second cousin(Edie's cousin's daughter). Someone on livejournal said something about the mother commiting suicide, but doesn't it seem like we would all have heard or read that somewhere?

just started reading the book -i'm on page 100- now...
I really love this pic of edie where she is in this clinic.. laying on her bed with her legs up.. she looks soo amazing!

Theres a show on e4 or channel 4 thats recently started which has kyra sedgwick starring in it and i know it sounds odd as they werent very closely related but you can see she's kind of got edies eyes.
They're very deep and dark, really quite beautiful.

^Yeah, she does. Do you think Kyra has the "Sedgwick nose" that they describe in the book? It does kind of turn down.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh god I dread this time of the year where we see the new trends. I hate the fact that for the past 10+ years we've been trying to recreate a style which has already been made famous and has already passed. Can't anyone be original anymore? Must we all be pulled back into same over and over again? I think it's really stupid that now all these 'stupid girls' are trying to emulate Edie's style she's so unique, why even try? This bothers me for a few reasons 1.) People love to hop on the bandwagon without knowing it's past or the history behind it. 2.) There's no originality left anymore, why can't we get another Edie who'll try something new and be looked at as unprecedented and extraordinary as her. Seems like every woman in hollywood and the fashion world has to renew style. Next year everyone's gonna wear poofy skirts, pearls, and recreate 50's attire, I bet they'll go after Marilyn or some other icon next. God Damn all these people!!!!! By theway Beauty #2 and the lost tapes of Ciao! Manhattan were fantastic!

i dont really see what the all the fuss is about people recreating something...i mean if you like it, go for it.

Yeah, I understand you're opinion ^^^^ shelley if I may, let me explain my fuss
Aren't you tired of people acting like something is their own? Giving credit where credit is due has not been a motto of all these Nicole Ritchies and Paris Hiltons. That's what gets me mad. Plus in the past 6 years there's always been a trend that comes back. Doesn't that bother you? I understand if it doesn't, I guess I'm more passionate because it seems like no one's original anymore!!! I don't think Edie's style should become one of those style's in which everyone has the same things and same idea of what to wear. Be different, you know.

i know. it seems as though everyone these days are redoing movies and music and styles and yada yada ya.....its sad really. but i guess im just that type of person that tries not to let these things get to me. but we have to understand that not everyone is purposely stealing a style (not saying that that is what you think) and that alot of those celebrities have a personal stylist who shops for them......i mean i had no idea who edie was a three months ago and i still would have liked the style. but i understand that everyone has different passions and feel passionate about different things. there are just some things that are out of your hands, if you know what i mean :flower:

i just finished reading the biography (edie: an american biog...) and someone said i would cry like a grandma and that much was true - but the thing that struck me most was the picture of her tombstone in which the engravings were: 'edith sedgwick post, wife of micheal post' and then date of birth and death. i jsut thought that so didnt fit who she was - married to this guy like six months and her inscription was about who her husband was - not about anykind of life that she had led. i sound like a raging feminist here but he wasnt even that large a part of her life, or what she was remembered for so it jsut seemed sad she would be remembered in this way.

I agree Fashionistasista! WOW! I am not a feminist either but I do feel that everyone is entitled to their own identity....esp in death....

I posted these at the lj community, sorry if you can't read them. scanned by me:

And the interview with FG director, George Hickenlooper. I cut his picture out, hope you don't mind. *~~sexy~*~

Hope you guys liked it, took forever to get up.

And they came from this:

Pretty much, if you can't read some of it, George Hickenlooper, director of FG, didn't read the Jean Stein bio because he wanted a "clear picture" of this. Yeah....that's how you do a movie about someone who lived.

FG is crap, and it goes to show that Sienna, who says she loves Edie and read about her, took the job for fame and money. She KNEW that Edie did not do the things or lived the way they are potraying her in FG. She knew that the script was wrong, yet she went ahead and did it.

Nice move, bimbo.

I completely agree with you! When Edie dressed the way she did, no one had ever dressed like that before. Like Betsey Johnson said on the Ciao! Manhattan dvd, before Edie women had been wearing corsettes and gerdels. I think David Weismen put it best, "young people today feel cheated, they feel like everything's hyped, everything's shoved down there throats and sold to them. When Edie wore those clothes it was spontaneous she wore them because she wanted to"...something liek that

i know i get what your saying we're all just slaves to a big machine.

ooh, i am now a scenester.....

its like there is no room for creativity these days.....children are growing up with tvs and dvd players in cars so they dont have to bug the parents while going to the mall.....everyone has those damn ipods and wear them everywhere, kids all have cell phones and text message and aim, there is not socializing face to face anymore. you dont even have to leave to house to go grocery shopping anymore!! we are so engulfed in technology that people dont look outside the window and broaden their mind or thinking......that is what i meant with the robot comment. i hope i didnt offend you

Offended? No, not at all! I respect and understand what you'r saying. You see what I meant by my theory was the same thing you mean, except I'm a little more bitchy and whiny. It's hard for me to get offended and yet I'm very defensive, isn't that ironic? But I respect what you're saying that whole robot comment was very clear to me. I meant that we're all slaves to society (And I quote my favorite song while I'm doing it) society is the big machine of which we're all slaves to. I hate this downward transition that society is spiraling into. This is why that whole copycat thing gets me angry. I hope I didn't offend you though, have I?

i must agree, all of this unneccessary technology crap is ruining the most simple experiences in life. a while ago i was reading in the papers that it might even lead to the eventual demise of the movie-going experience altogether because of it. that would be a personal hit in the gut for me.

but anyway, if you think about it, only a few mavericks like Edie have been truly original in the past. ever since... forever, the masses have taken part in trends. i mean, it's human nature to want to be socially accepted, and usually the only reason something "new" came out was because there was some sort of social revolution or anti-establishment movement... which is what we're lacking. but i agree, i direly hope for change. everything's been so overdone!

those photos are fantastic. thanks!
