This may be a mean thing to say, but i'm worried all my friends will start to dress like it, and the thing that bothers me is when people KIND OF know where the style came from but not really. And i liked knowing all about the factory era and my friends not knowing, and i never really talk about it with them or teach them about it, and now i'll just be one in the crowd

^ I know what you mean, not to say I have a wealth of knowledge about Warhol's factory since I don't like him. Edie has been my main interest but to see everyone else jumping on the bandwagon because of the film & it's media blitz is insufferable, especially people who can't tell beatnik from boho.

as for nicole, sienna and the rest.... you know if they did it properly and watered it down a little with perhaps facets of their own style, I wouldn't mind as much but this bastardised version just makes my skin crawl.

Did Nicole cut her hair? I can't tel if she did or if it's just pulled back. That would be weird if she cut it. I think it's weird to be exactly like Edie. I mean to cut your hair and dress EXACTLY like her is so unoriginal. Did anyone notice Mary Kate Olson dressed like Edie a long time ago, she would wear the long shirts and black tights? But she at least added things to make it more her, i'll try to find pictures.

I have to chuckle at some of these "look alikes"...Edie, Sienna and Kate are MUCH better looking than most of these other celebs (imo) and the looks don't work for more...ummm, average looking girls! They actually look kind of sad. Find your own style, girls!!

You should!! People need to know about her... and the other celebrities/people that are so inspiring that no one really remembers... :-( I hope that doesnt happen to our generation... although I must admit I am quite embarrassed of our "hollywood".

stripes are everywhere at the malls- tis true- my friend drug me there yesterday to make a return somewhere but I will say this, anytime a trend comes "in" that coincides with my personal style and I am upset at first, I have to realise that people who shop at the mall with head-to-toe looks of any style (be it "boho", "preppy", "mod", "retro 80's rawk", "flapper", etc.) its very evident and clear to see that their look is not authentic but a generic "fitting in" with the norm look
And further on that line, their take on "mod" will not be mine.
Same with "Boho"---I have always had a gypsy quality going on with my look for years and years and then it was "in"- I was freaked out at first but then saw all the Paris Hilton's and the Jessica Simpson's with their candy-colored floor-dusting "gypsy" skirts which bared their navels and their "hippie" shirts" that went awfully with their straightened, flat-ironed hair and overly made-up faces its a matter of aesthetics and people who jump on trends just to do it never do it right imo
