For Edun’s first pre-fall collection, Danielle Sherman riffed on a range of global influences — from late Sixties London mod culture (seen in mother-of-pearl button embellishments and exaggerated lapels on outerwear) to buttery soft, pleated leather skirts inspired by Japanese artist Yuko Nishimura’s paper sculptures.

She also sourced inspiration from an architectural style found in the Burkina Faso village of Tiébélé in western Africa, which manifested into black-and-white geometric prints on leather jackets and sweaters. Sherman’s tailored suiting was particularly sleek, with silhouettes kept long and lean and featuring a fresh take on bell-bottom trousers.

I love the new direction Edun has gone in but I think the brand still has some challenges. There's nothing here that feels all that resolved or essential, there's an idea here and there but nothing that screams "buy me, wear me." More like "oh, that's nice I guess."

Also the label has production issues, probably due to the fact that most of it is made in Africa and in places where their production is not up to par. I admire the commitment but it renders a lot of these clothes extremely unattractive when they're finally delivered to stores. My feeling is that the designs aren't working in synergy with the capabilities of their production and perhaps they need to rethink it a bit.

I agreed they're on the right track but I guess they need more time to improvise with better collection I still see some reference from others but it's good.
