Oops, I was being obscure, sorry. Wondering if anyone notes some elfish looks in current stylings.

Here's one from Helmut Lang, but maybe it's more the model.

yeah...
that's really the model...
not the clothes...

that whole 'alien' look...
although i was thinking about fairies...
it definitely crosses over into the goddess territory...

floaty chiffon...drapy dresses with ropes and flat sandals..
gold acessories...leaf jewelry...etc...

i think im getting your point, specially with jaunel... her legs look elfish somehow, her face, the outfit... but i think you're just being very imaginative :flower:

nice to see another obscure fashionista here! somehow i've assimilated myself haha..for practical reasons! communication. anyways..yeah i think the grecian trend is somewhat elvis or goddess w/ the drapery. and the helmut lang one has mystical qualities..i like how you are thinking very broad about trends and things..it is very much an exercise into how much fashion designers must think..black box thinking etc..disassociation--its when the best stuff comes out. keep it up :flower:

elvis..haha elvish

elve chic is destined to get huge, i agree its out there and not just in modelling ..
discussing trends, its good to see beyond the clothes, trends are much more wider than just shapes/styles/fabrics
they always express an 'inner' need for a certain image/lifestyle/fantasy and in this sense, they are always interesting to think and analyse..

elves, sure.. escapism to romanticism, childhood and dream world
i mean.. how very appropriate during hard-times, right?
let us dream ;)

mmm...I find the elven thing very appealing. the funny thing is that everyone seems to have their own interpretation. I personally associate it with leafy, art nouveau inspired designs, pale colours...long, wavy hair, pale makeup and pale skin. ^_^

 elves are wonderful^_^

I can see a ethreal/fantasy fashion trend coming on, like Lena* said

yes, i agree lena. i love to think of trends as broad as possible..the overall trend design and art is going through right now. i think elves is very subjective, as utopia stated, and as you stated, it's the individual's own memories of childhood fantasies. i think it's interesting, because it will be an abstracted interpretation, because we no longer believe in magic
well, there are less literal, more metaphysical ideas of magic ;) as i was saying, in the industrial design thread...i was speaking to a friend who has been attending the international contemporary furniture fair, and it was his assement that the best pieces looked as if you had already seen them. i think dries van noten also have a similar effect. he said it's very crafty, and some pieces are very abstracted...fashion ultimately takes on old trends and further collages itself, but i think iconography is the antithesis of what is going on now..it's very dreamy and personal.

It's interesting that we tend to visualize elvish dress in accordance with a predetermined image when really, the whole idea relies on the potential of the imagination. Ideally, there should be no limitations on what one would/could wear...

great input travolta & jennifer :flower:

working as trend scout i can see your point travolta, as i love saying all is one
fashion, decoration, product design, architecture, all get influenced by the same socio/economic elements that shape the way things are.
its all inter-related and yes, like jennifer says predetermined images are so 'limiting' our perception ..we have this need to escape 'classic' iconography in order to create a modern vision (even if its only in our own mind) much more if we work in (or around) fashion, decoration, design, architecture
