Elie Saab Haute Couture S/S 2023 Paris

beautiful collection and lovely to see Josephine.

Menswear is the only interesting thing in this collection. It's refreshing to know that the men of his clients can have the same services.

The rest of the collection is typical of him. He knows his looks and he executed them well.

He understands his clients and always gives them what they ask for.

it's the same thing year after year. banal. uninteresting. nauseatingly sugary. saab and the rest of his far-eastern imitators ought to be struck off the calendar if you ask me.

unfortunately, my opinion means nothing when russian/middle-eastern trophy brides eat this sh*t up like porridge.

The basic b*tches of Instagram eat it up too, calling him "The King of Haute Couture", while shaming Galliano and McQueen, because it's "not pretty enough".

This is just fine. I do like the second look and the potential of what the men's could imply if done better.

Call me crazy, but I really would like to see a couture collection from him that doesn't rely so much on embellishments. They cover up and can distract from a lot of mistakes, so to see what he could do without it would be a breath of fresh air from him.

Going back to his debut Paris show in 2003, there is quite a bit of evolution in his work. At that point, it reminds me more of 90s/00s Atelier Versace and John Galliano with the domination of body-skimming bias-cut dresses, corsets, bright colours and prints.

Then from 2006, we had that 70s/80s Haute Couture cliché, with the muted colours, floral embroidery and overuse of silk taffeta. After that, we had a hybrid of the two previous aesthetics from 2010, with 2014 being the beginning of that Instagram prom dress look, we all now know him for. The cheap pop music soundtracks don't help.

I'd like to see him go back to that 2003 - 2006 vibe.
