Elie Saab Haute Couture S/S 2025 Paris

His collections often blur together for me. Yet they’re always flawlessly executed and glamorous. He consistently hits the right notes. I also appreciate how he sticks to a theme like his exploration of pleating and draping in the opening half.

It’s good and perfectly executed as usual. It’s not my style but I have always the highest respect for Elie Saab. He is a couturier in the noble sense of the word. He designs for his clientele and that’s all.

I’m always so confused by the absence of daywear in his Couture shows. I know there are options in RTW and clients are queens but it’s always strange lol.

The show was styled by Carine.

^^^…Of course it would be Carine LOL I wouldn’t expect anything but giving nothing from her these days.

Wouldn’t say that the current Armani Privé is without its flaws. But that they both rely on a heavy dose of embroidery/embellishment/lace, while Gio conjures a serene, an ethereal lightness of being for those with diamonds on the soles of their shoes, Elie reliably conjures typical and burdensome bridal partywear for the real housewives of the ME.

But these are his clientele lol.
Yes over the years, he has added royals, international celebrities and others but I had the chance to attend celebrations in the Middle East and literally, you got entire families shopping at Elie Saab.

And wedding season is his season. He is dressing the maid of honors, the girls of the family the whole thing.

Those are the clothes that keeps his ateliers busy.

Armani started Couture 20 years ago but Elie has been doing this for years and years. And his style has really evolved from the time he started to show in Italy.

And besides that, Elie owes his success to his clientele. Except for Halle Berry who made him famous worldwide, he never really had to pander to the press and that also influence his work, that is not really pushing the needle.

^^^ Absolutely.

Hence the absence of daywear. It’s just this endless parade time after time, season after season, of the same old same old sherbet-palette bridalwear. It would be if Vera Wang had paraded her ivory-palette bridalwear and nothing else during NYFW when she showed. My eyes may roll to the back of my head with the brand of concentrated stuntwear couture at Viktor & Rolf— even Demna’s Balenciaga and Alessandro’s Valentino. But they’re making the effort to do something distinctive, as contrived as it may be, in design with the advantages of craftsmanship and tradition of couture. And although I don’t doubt that Elie's isn’t of the utmost effort of craftsmanship, it also very generic bridalwear/eveningwear of the traditional wealthy ME clan. And it’s just so beyond reductive as a couture showing but I understand: Advertising.
