ELIZABETH HURLEY is in Mumbai this week to drum up plenty of publicity for Lakme Fashion Week, which is due to run from today until April 1. The event will showcase the work of 30 catwalk designers as well as introducing two new initiatives to support young talent, the "Emerging Designer Category" and "Gen Next". "It's quite extraordinary," said Hurley, who arrived in a turquoise fitted cocktail dress, with her boyfriend Arun Nayer, as she watched India's fashion elite come together for the opening party. "When we started seven years ago as Lakme India Fashion Week in New Dehli, most of the coverage was about the scene and not about the clothes," IMG managing director Ravi Krishnan said yesterday. "We have certainly evolved. We became a new entertainment form and moved beyond a cottage industry.
