Emanuel Ungaro S/S 10 Paris

The only things that I've liked is basically a rip off of pucci and some of the colours (but not put together the way they were in the show). Otherwise I found that the collections has a little too much 'love' in it.

Ms. Lohan has reportedly made a multi million dollar contract out of the deal and just left the store with over 100,000$ in merchandise (to publicly wear).
It is hard to feel sorry for her. She presumably thought she is up to job so be it.
The CEO is a case of all balls and no taste so this stunt was expected. Hopefully he will be the next one kindly escorted to the (quickly) revolving door.

If Mr. Moufarrige was serious enough, he would have made an effort in finding proper talent and skill. There are too numerous a number of designers that could've (and have) done a better job.

Where was it reported she has a multi million $ contract? I can't believe someone would invest so much in her.

^
She is an actress who is being paid — with a deal reported to be worth millions — to serve as artistic adviser

^ Guys, this is all PR nonsense...Ungaro has been on the brink of going out of business for months now- this guy who runs it is just desperate to somehow save it, and he is getting results as far as buzz, although from what is out today I would say it is anything but positive...How this could possibly translate into enough revenue to turn it around is anyone's guess- and Lindsay couldn't collect on any sort of contract if the company is out of business...

I'm just really curious who decided on Lindsay Lohan?
I mean, I myself is not a fan of Victoria Beckham, but she has done quite well in launching her own brand.
Out of all the celebrities out there it would've been ideal to choose a popular one with less scandals and better press. But Lindsay Lohan .. seriously? The person who made that decision must have had a serious case of insanity, cause that is just well .. insane.

She was most likely the only one they could get. I'm not sure who else would take on a responsibility like that.

it sounds like in the video that she doesn't want to even wear the clothes she apparently designed?????

^ Yeah, you would need a down and out celeb to take this on..."Here, we will pay you a lot of money to come with us (If we're still here three months from now...) Just sit in this deck chair here on the Titanic... " :innocent:

I don't think the collection was that bad tbh. I was expecting half of the pieces to be leggings.

I have no objection to Lindsay Lohan designing or art directing her own lines, but I have a deep-set sense of what the word "Ungaro" means to me, formed during the time the man himself was there, so I would have a hard time reconciling the idea that, in 2009, the label would need to hire someone of her profile in order to keep itself alive.

She's a media powerhouse in terms of the attention she can attract, so I can see the commercial sense in using her, although the decision will cost the label in other ways. But it's important to give any new team a chance, at least for a few seasons.

I think if everything here stays in place till February , which is doubtful, the next Ungaro show will be the acid test - they'll have time to do it right and maybe Lindsay can actually do some work and contribute...maybe...

honestly its not that bad , its good considering its put together in 3 weeks. I am not going to pass judgment till Feb if Lindsay even stays that long lol

This sort of thing seems to be typical in the media today- not good... I wonder how Lindsay is taking this- especially after all of her celebs friends pretty much ignored her and the show; she's pretty fragile these days under the best of circumstances...

Yea, Nay, Or Eh: The Lindsanity Edition

The expectations were low. Well, frequently low and stewing in the wicked juice of potential schadenfreude. Unfortunately, as it turns out, Lindsay Lohan’s debut as artistic adviser at Emanuel Ungaro warranted them. After yesterday’s show, no one, it seems, had anything nice to say, whether about the circus like atmosphere or the ticky-tacky, undeveloped clothes that came down the runway. Our own Nicole Phelps described it as “a bad joke of a fashion show, one with questionable color combinations, ‘bad eighties’ draped silk jackets and drop-crotch pants, old-fashioned and ill-judged fur stoles, and, yes, tasteless sequin pasties.” WWD called it “an embarrassment,” remarking that the clothes looked “cheesy and dated.” Meanwhile, The New York Times likened Lohan’s presence at a major French house to “a McDonald’s fry cook taking the reins of a three-star Michelin restaurant.” Ouch. Well, in a way, Mounir Moufarrige got his wish. Those runway shots and the images of Lohan’s teary bow, with designer Estrella Archs, have rippled out well beyond the fashion orbit.

I don't think the collection was that bad. If it was under an up and coming designer's name, it wouldn't get badly criticized as much. I think I know which type of customer they are trying to attract with this collection which is a more younger girl. Someone like Lindsay herself. But with a brand like Ungaro, people expect a really high standard. Ungaro was a great couture house I've seen so much of it at Elsa Klensch style and Fashion TV with Jeanne Becker and to compare it with this collection, it's incomparable. But I think what will be the best of this is that it will be affordable and it will be embraced by a new younger clientele. Historic houses are very attractive to younger crowd now so Ungaro will be ok.

This definitely is shaping up to be an unforgettable moment in fashion. I must say that this collection is not horrible. It's not great. It's just "meh".

The heart motif should have been toned down and edited becuae right now it is overkill. It doesn't look expensive enough. I'm really feeling bad for Lindsay though. It's sad that Ungaro is really exploiting her problems and I know she's an adult but I really feel like she has been taken advantage of. It's become evident that they never thought that she was truly capable of putting together a collection that could compete with other luxury brands. It was hard to watch Lindsay in those videos fidgeting around and she is obviously sauced.

Most of us knew of the outcome before we saw what she created. Celebrities need to stay out of designing clothes.

Well they're certainly getting the attention they must have wanted when appointing Lindsay.

I can't imagine they expected anything else from a collection designed in three weeks (ridiculous!), and helmed by Lohan, they must have known how the fashion press would react. It's complete sensationalism and people don't like it because it feels disrespectful. This was not the way to save the brand and stop losing money.
