Emanuel Ungaro S/S 10 Paris

This definitely is shaping up to be an unforgettable moment in fashion. I must say that this collection is not horrible. It's not great. It's just "meh".

The heart motif should have been toned down and edited becuae right now it is overkill. It doesn't look expensive enough. I'm really feeling bad for Lindsay though. It's sad that Ungaro is really exploiting her problems and I know she's an adult but I really feel like she has been taken advantage of. It's become evident that they never thought that she was truly capable of putting together a collection that could compete with other luxury brands. It was hard to watch Lindsay in those videos fidgeting around and she is obviously sauced.

It was really terrible to read that the CEO thought that the reviews would have been much worse so like you said, he never really expected it to be good anyways. I'm not sure if to feel sorry or happy for Estrella that she's not receiving much attention. Maybe it is indeed good Lindsay is taking all of the credit so to not really destroy Estrella's image.

the remarks by the CEO are really cynical. how could he not forsee this to be a disaster? he would have been much better off hiring an olsen twin.

^ It's hard to even watch her...
VERY. I was cringing. "I'm not going to wear it out to lunch or everyday..."
"She came to my house, which is a big closet"-We've heard this before, dear.
It seems she cant answer a question directly....hmm and bursting into tears and then calming down, more tears, more sass, more frown lines....
Ugh I'm almost on the verge of disgust with her and her behaviour. :yuk:

of course this is bad. she is NOT a designer. it upsets me so much that they made this huge publicity stunt (im hoping that's all the people at ungaro thought of). there are surely zillion of willing and talented designers out there that would kill to be in her position and would surely come up with something better and more original than this

Definitely agree! I just noticed in the video that the majority of the audience seemed to not even give them an applause. Very sad, very sad. I wonder how long this will last? At this rate, I even wonder how long Ungaro will last?

Except, of course, the Olsens have more money than God and would never be interested in being used like this...Lindsey, on the other hand...

But can you really be disgusted by her considering her behavior is nothing new. They knew that she had these problems when they hired her.

^ Yeah, that is maybe the most cynical part of the story- and also why I think the game is over already. They probably have 18 different ways to terminate the arrangement based on any number of things she may do or not do...They've already gotten what they wanted out of her and Heaven knows she's not one to be counted on for the long term... :(

The whole Lindsay/Ungaro debacle is simply idiotic and offensive as displayed by this poorly executed cheap and nasty collection - a collaboration that smacks of the worst kind of corporate incompetance born out of desperation - the house of Ungaro deserves to sink as it is it can fall no lower.

I can't think of the woman who is rich enough to buy these clothes and who simultaneously admires this now cretinous actress. Can any of you? Jessica Simpson perhaps? Having just watched the video clip kindly posted by a fellow TFS'er a couple of pages previously I simply cannot not comment ... I have no sympathy for Estrella Archs who comes across as a stupid cypher but much much less for Lohan who is puffed up with her self-belief and misplaced confidence in her capabilities as a designer. I tell you for a fact that at least some of her time this past week has been shopping in other designers stores the length of ave Montaigne.

Lindsay...give it up.
its just not working for you. i dont kno who declared lindsay lohan a fashion icon, but whoever did probably wished they never opened their mouth after seeing this half-***ed collection. its like versace's last collection with those damned hearts with a hint of jil sander, and a smidgen of sl*tty cocktail dress for the common hollywood socialite..i hate it.
Lindsay ur fired.

Except Versace did the :heart:s tastefully and beautifullly!

Also, Lindsay comes across as really desperate in those clips (i'm not surprised) and it sounds to me like she is going/hoping to be working with Ungaro for a long while judging by her "It's going to get better and better and better" statement.

True, and nothing new perhaps to some, but until this 'collaboration' and seeing her progessively looking worse and acting even more incoherently bizarre and seeming to be in her own world, she's now really put me off her completely, though for a trainwreck she's pretty fabulous.

Many things have crossed my mind watching the show, some are:

1. right now I'm just wondering what Emanuel Ungaro is thinking in his retirement? (I mean, his name is still associated to this...)

2. I'm also sorry for the unknown (now known) Archs who is going to be associated to LiLo for a while/forever...

3. One thing is to do celebrity lines and try to present them in NYC... and another thing is to present a celebrity collection under a big name in Paris... that's sort of a sacriledge... I'm not a designer but if I were I would feel embarrased and a bit frustrated to see how my job is being undermined like this...

4.I hate all... but Ungaro's CEO has just got what he wanted!: buzz over the brand (whether positive or negative)

5. I'd rather prefered a disspareance of the brand (at least for a few years... during recession times) than this. There would have probably been tones of different strategies to relaunch Ungaro.

What is the bookie in London that gives odds on just about everything on earth? Ladbrook or something like that? I wonder what the line is on an Ungaro F/W 10 show even happening after this train wreck!!? The Internet buzz and reviews today are 10x worse than I expected...

i know lindsay isn't all that popular here in the united states -- except maybe among gay men who'll love her always -- but i have an inkling that in other parts of the world there exist teenage daughters of b/millionaires who'll snap this stuff up because of her. it just all depends on how they leverage her involvement. the clothes really aren't WORSE than some of the stuff we've seen over the past month, really. if they price it right and market it right, they might be able to turn it around.

i mean, i could see the st. tropez/ibiza grade foreign national rocking this stuff with absolute aplomb.

Ibiza yes, St. Tropez no for the lack of visible logo.

honestly, the clothes aren't too bad. they aren't anything new/original but it's better than some of the stuff more established designers have put out. people are just naturally judging this line based on their opinions of lilo, both the haters and the stans.

it was def a huge risk to collab with lohan on a line, esp one as well known as Ungaro and in paris nonetheless, but hey that's their problem.

all the hate and criticism the collection has been getting is a bit harsh, in my humble opinion...

I don't think it's that as much as dismay and disappointment...This is such a storied Paris house and it looks like simple cheap promotion by a desperate business...If it was a start up in Downtown New York I think we'd all be more open minded- but it's pretty clear the situation is just very screwed up in so many ways...:(

ia with you but i feel the label should be getting the heat and not necessarily lindsay, which is what's been happening. it was a cheap publicity stunt and lohan was merely a pawn.
