Emanuel Ungaro S/S 10 Paris

The Paris fashion world never expected to see pasties on the runway. Nor, apparently, did the creative consultant behind the disastrous line, Lindsay Lohan. The actress, 23, who was skewered by the fashion press for the first Ungaro collection she served as artistic advisor on, blamed the fiasco on “coming in so late and having not that much time to do a whole collection.” As for the much-maligned sequined pasties flashed by the models when they opened their jackets and blouses, Lohan said told PEOPLE on Wednesday at a Victoria’s Secret Velvet launch party in New York that she was as shocked as the audience. “I wasn’t aware of the nipple tassels on the girls until they were walking out,” she says, adding that “I am going back to Paris for the next collection….I am learning.” Still, the clock for her next collection is already ticking. “It’s already in January,” she says. “I thought it was in March.”

Um, what? In interviews before the show, she boasted that the pasties were her idea...

I am really curious as to how long this is going to last.
I think the attempt to justify the collection is very not good. It's not working! -_-

I like a *few* of the pieces actually. I've seen worse runway pics.

With that said, the collection as a whole still fails.

I wonder what Karl Lagerfeld thought about this collection? I once saw an interview with him where he said "I love Lindsay Lohan." Lindsays been hanging around the Purple crowd alot so hopefully Olivier Zham will put her clothes in his magazine. And besides Lindsay is very chic in an american rock n roll sort of way and right now lots of cool girls want to look like that. All the haters really need to lay of Lindsay...the world is cruel...

OMG
Lindsay Lohan,,really???? can they be so desperate as too hire that mess for what little and extremely biased publicity they will get from the media and fashion people alike or did people from Ungaro actually saw some miraculously hidden talent Lohan has not shown and the rest of the world do not believe even exist?
when I first heard about this, i was like, 'what a far fetched rumor, no one in their mind would hire Lindsay Lohan to do anything, and still they make up this stories about her actually designing and of all the fashion houses, at the Ungaro? no way'
I mean the girl cannot even dress herself!
when i saw Lohan at the end of the show, I was so shocked. No wonder the collection was by far one of the worst shows that was shown in Paris for a long time
this is kind of fashion joke that leaves horrible taste in your mouth, not the kind you get from genius like Gaultier or Galliano.
I feel so sad that Ungaro had to come to this. For me, the house lost it's integrity.

i don't think so.

I agree with venjeans, first of all Christophe Decarnin would never have designed such a crappy collection, and fashion world is extremely cruel, as the famous catch phrase goes, one day your in the next day your out. I cannot deny there maybe some namesake that people take into acount, but many talented, famous designers are often scrutinized when they show a bad collection

I hope it's ok to post this here.
Save Ungaro! We Pick 5 Faves That Could (And Should) Replace LiLo

Well that was embarrassing. After some of the worst reviews we've ever read (and we mean ever), it's not much of a stretch to imagine that we've already seen the end of the Lindsay Lohan experiment at Emanuel Ungaro. More than just being plain old BAD, critics noted that the LiLo/Estrella Archs team didn't respect the Ungaro heritage—a history that began with the thread and needle of Italian émigré Ungaro who combined the kind of brash experimentation, sexuality, and handicraft of his homeland with the sensual, street-ready philosophy of Paris. Half-constructed she-blazers and glittery nipple appliqués just ain't cuttin' it, be they the brainchild of the upcoming Archs or a semi-conscious actress from Merrick. But this all begs the question—If not LiLo, then who should have their hands on the hot reigns of The House of Ungaro? Here's our top five list of contenders.
chris-benz-thumb-portrait.jpg
Chris Benz—You want flirty color and relaxed cuts? Benz has got that in spades. He's becoming more renowned with every season, and the backing of a internationally recognized (though oft-troubled) house could give him the muscle to fulfill the more fantastical ambitions lurking behind his designs. If he amps up the sex and holds on to his intuitive grasp of femininity, this just might work.

zac-posen-thumb-portrait.jpg
Zac Posen—Ok, sure, the man is a name in of himself—but when was the last time he really impressed us? Posen's been on the down side of an invisible streak for the last couple of seasons, and perhaps a change in setting could do him well. A switch to an overseas house could allow him to experiment with someone else's heritage and—perhaps most importantly, would send flocks of cool girls running back to Ungaro.

yigal-azrouel-thumb-portrait.jpg
Yigal Azrouël—The ladies love Yigal… and they dig his clothes, too. While not the most experimental clothes-maker on the block, the Israeli designer is so completely keyed in to what women want without trussing them up in bizarre confections, that he may be ideal for Ungaro. He's a master with leather, silks, and other materials that are core to the Ungaro tradition, and it doesn't hurt anyone's bottom line that he's a regular in the gossip pages.

christopher-kane-thumb-portrait.jpg
Christopher Kane—The success of the loud, lush Brit's collabs with Topshop and his own label have showed that while he has an Englishman's understanding of material, cut, and embellishment, he's got an Italian soul. We've all been a bit terrified of his famous crocodile T-shirts and, perhaps more importantly, a bit turned on. A fave of front-row celebs, he would be able to pull on current fashion idols like Rihanna and others to bolster the House's spiraling cred.

chloe-sevigny-thumb-portrait.jpg
Chloë Sevigny—If owner Asim Abdullah is dead set on going with a celeb, he could do worse than New York's umlautted favorite fashion daughter. With a Parisian sense of style and the ability to go oversized-blazer casual to slinky LBD with the bat of an eye, Sevigny is just a few steps away from being the ideal Ungaro girl to begin with, and her collabs with Opening Ceremony have resulted in some sharp, sexy footwear. Sure, she says she'll only ever work with O.C., but we'll believe it when we see it.

I think if everything here stays in place till February , which is doubtful, the next Ungaro show will be the acid test - they'll have time to do it right and maybe Lindsay can actually do some work and contribute...maybe...

I really don't want to see anything else from her, I am sure it will be lot better then this one, which is not a big challenge because anything will be better then this obviously it will definitely be less disgusting, never 'better'. I really don't want to see Lindsay Lohan doing anything to do with fashion.

Agree- that's my pet peeve with "celebrity designers"- There are lots of talented, dedicated real designers out there (many of whom are waiting tables...:(), and their jobs are being (supposedly) done by morons who think whipping out an AMEX card qualifies someone to make design decisions...

I would love to hear what the real Ungaro would have to say about this...

As a passionate fashion student, I cannot agree more with you Boomer, it makes me furious and angry at the disrespect shown by the CEO and Lindsay Lohan for accepting the job.

Save Ungaro! We Pick 5 Faves That Could (And Should) Replace LiLo
How about they just dump Lindsay and let Estrella Archs do it on her own. I've heard nothing but good things about her own line.

Christopher Kane is way too perfect for Versace. I would prefer that he stay there.

crying when she saw her office, crying during the preview, crying taking her bow...

i'm sure monsieur ungaro is crying too...

LMAO!!!!!!!. I love Linsday but this is a mess. Even though there are a few ok peices but over all this is horrible.

Hollywood bad girl Lindsay Lohan's first collection as artistic advisor for Emanuel Ungaro was a "disaster", the founder of the French couture house said here, local press reported.
"Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster," the designer said during a meeting on Monday night with the public at the international film festival in Estoril, near Lisbon.
"I am furious but I can't do anything about it," fumed the designer, who emphasised that he no longer had any contact with the house which bears his name since he left in 2005. The house now belongs to an American investment company.
Lohan, 23, whose**** habits and drink-driving conviction turned her into paparazzi fodder and wreaked havoc with her acting career, was named official muse to the prestigious house alongside Spanish designer Estrella Archs in September.
Their first catwalk collection together unveiled in Paris in October was panned by the international fashion press.
Ungaro said he regretted that the fashion house he started "is in the process of losing its soul."
"That happens to a lot of designers. We were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our souls."
Ungaro has seen a merry-go-round of chief designers come and go since Emanuel Ungaro hung up his scissors.

^ I'm quite sure neither one of them was (is) easy to work with....
