Billionaire nightlife and hotel magnate Sam Nazarian married his model fiancée, Emina Cunmulaj, in a flashy wedding in Mexico over the weekend. Confidenti@l has learned that the CEO of SBE, which owns SLS Hotels and countless celebrity hotspots, tied the knot in a Sunday ceremony in front of a glamorous guest list.
The bride, who has been on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in the U.K. and Vogue in Mexico, walked down an aisle carpeted with white rose petals at the St. Regis Punta Mita before making their vows under a rose-covered chuppah.
“Extra’s” Maria Menounos (wearing a Walter Collection gown) was there to celebrate, as were models Ivana Korab and Ana Mihajlovic and New York scenester Eli Mizrahi, plus executives from Nazarian’s company.
The Iran-American businessman, who once appeared as himself on HBO’s “Entourage,” owns a string of hotels and clubs, including the SLS properties in L.A. and Miami, and various L.A. hotpots, such as Hyde and the Colony. The L.A. Times reported last year that he controls some 51 restaurants, including the Umami and Katsuya chains.
The three-day bash — put together by the Kardashian family’s go-to event planner, Sharon Sacks (who worked on Kim’s wedding to Kanye West and Khloe’s to Lamar Odom) began with a “white party” on the beach on Friday.
We’re told the couple hired Grammy-nominated flamenco band, the Gipsy Kings, to serenade them at the rehearsal dinner. Other over-the-top touches included a seven-tier wedding cake by L.A.’s Royal Cakes, which topped out at around 5 feet tall, and a firework display after the outdoor reception.
Guests arriving at the venue were greeted with goodie bags containing selfie sticks, flip-flops and sunglasses, all monogrammed with the bride and groom’s initials.
Nazarian can no doubt use the happy occasion. The businessman briefly stepped down as head of SBE in December last year after admitting to using cocaine, according to the L.A. Times. The discovery was made during a routine investigation into Nazarian while he was trying to secure a Las Vegas gaming permit. He took up the reins again in April, the paper reported.
