"People think floral is my trademark—even though some of my shows didn't have a flower in sight," Erdem Moralioglu said at a presentation of his first-ever pre-fall collection in London. To prove his point, out came a dress in a "firecracker" print inspired by English skies on Guy Fawkes Day (the U.K.'s answer to the Fourth of July), and, even more notably, a tailored jacket. The emphasis was on functionality. In addition to the pretty knee-length frocks Michelle Obama, among others, knows and loves him for, there were palazzo pants, an A-line mini, to-the-floor skirts, a motorcycle jacket, and easy, sleeveless shells in the mix.

But he didn't neglect the red carpet. Case in point: a draped, crepe silk maxi dress with lace details and a trompe l'oeil effect at the nape that gave the illusion that it was partially unzipped—a fitting choice, potentially, for Carey Mulligan, who wore Erdem to the Dubai Film Festival the previous night. "I feel we have transitioned from girl to woman in this collection," Moralioglu said. With that very grown-up shot of sexiness, we tend to agree. - Afsun Qureshi

except for a couple dresses i dont really like it. the prints are kinda weird and the shapes are simple

Some of these outfits could easily be from a Carolina Herrera or Oscar de la Renta show.

i'm curious whether this stuff will wind up on michelle obama, samantha cameron, or kate middleton first. it's quite stately while still exuding fashionability (especially for pre-fall) and something even a little tribal. these clothes could get styled conservatively with business basics or could become a bohemian masterwork if loaded with other colorful pieces (i'd love to see someone just go crazy with chunky jewelry and some out-of-this-world kenzo stuff).

... and some prints remind of Christopher Kane Resort 2011 collection.

this is why i love Erdem su much! incredible colors, textures, everything from the first to the last outfit is been done perfectly.

Beautiful colors and prints, its a shame the model looks so completely miserable.

I am really loving those last prints, they make me think of fireballs and golden explosions. I'm not digging any of the dresses, although that look with the blazer and the floor-length skirt did take me aback a little...it's strangely awesome :D

Agree, she doesn't help the clothes' presentation at all. At least.

I love the prints as always, and I simply adore the second dress in the first post. Brilliant use of a colourful print on that simple navy base.

I always love looking at an Erdem collection, this is no exception. I always find the brands pre-fall and resort collections so strong, and it's nice to see a brand put effort into the Pre-Fall range.

I can't wait to see who ends up wearing this on the red carpet, they're all beautiful looks

Some very pretty dresses, especially the last set of pictures, good prints as usual but not feeling it as much as usual.

Erdem, unexciting cuts, design relying entirely on the fabrics, the prints and the mixture of the two.

I don't know if it's the model, the hair/makeup, the prints, or all of that together but it looks so depressing and sad.

I do love that last gown though. GORGEOUS.
