We've been through seasons of in your face lingerie, hot pants, transparency, to pretty much sum up what's been going on for a while, I would resume it as the erotica trend.

Not actually in your face sexiness, but a much more demure/European feel to it. It is about all about a very powerful women who dresses to be desired and is in control of her sexiness. She may look conservative, but all the lace, or her bra peeking hints you off. She knows how to dose her erotic side.

More classy than wild. Just need to find the right balance.

There's definitely a sense of erotica going on here this season with a touch of dominatrix. KimKhuu, I loved your analysis. Thanks!:flower:

This is cool; I can definitely it. It's a really interesting trend - sort of reminds me of the Neo Goth thing as well from a year or two ago.

I will always enjoy fashion that has a sexual subtext to it. The thing about being erotic isn't so much what you're seeing as what you imagine might happen as a result.

Armani Prive (I wouldn't ordinarily categorize Armani as being really sexy, but between the Helmut Newton-y gender bending and the fact that it looks like the models have nothing on under their wide open jackets is a nice surprise from the king of understatement)

This is a lot how I like to dress myself. My approach to fashion is very classic/conservative compared to my environment & women my age. Yet I love to have a little "Boudoir Kitten" vibe going on... For me, it's my new millennium version of a Flapper girl, all about being confident with your sexiness. And being sexy for yourself first and then others, not the other way around.

I wikied up Erotica and the definition they're giving is quite interesting:

Erotica (from the Greek Eros - "desire") or "curiosa," works of art, including literature, photography, film, sculpture and painting, that deal substantively with erotically stimulating or sexually arousing descriptions. Erotica is a modern word used to describe the portrayal of the human anatomy and sexuality with high-art aspirations, differentiating such work from commercial p*rn*gr*phy.[1] "Curiosa" is generally used to refer to erotica and p*rn*gr*phy as discrete, collectible items, usually in published or printed form.

Various sub-genres of erotica exist. As with fiction as a whole, there are erotic stories with a science fiction, fantasy, horror or romance focus. Additionally, erotica can also focus on specific sexual behavior or fetishes such as BDSM, wearing uniforms, cross-dressing, polygamy and sexual promiscuity.

It's difficult to define as obviously it's subjective. I thought Giles had it as a very obvious underlying theme , especially the use of the head and face wraps , it's an obscuring and highlighting of the senses.

This look from Sonia Rykiel is a great example I think especially if you look closer at the print ;0 it still to me though comes across as very playful and innocent.

I love this trend! I actually bought a pair of black skinny bondage-style pants a couple weeks ago with straps going all over the place on the legs - impulse buy, I've been too scared to wear them out, though.

Gladiator sandals also remind me of bondage, for the feet.
