Only 17 years young, and already ranked under the top 50 by Models.com. Esther Heesch debutet in 2012 at the Christian Dior F/W show, and is since then making her way to the top, working for the biggest fashion houses and magazines. The beauty appeared on the Cover of Elle, in editorials for Vogue, and walked for designers such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Prada and Alexander McQueen. The German model is the current face of Tom Ford and can be seen in the latest Valentino campaign. While running from fashion week to fashion week, Esther was so sweet to find some time to answer me a few questions about her career and life outside the fashionworld.
How did you get into modelling? Was it something you always wanted to do?
I was scouted in Hamburg when I was 15 while looking for shoes.. I never thought about becoming a model, I just always knew that I was tall!
What’s the best part about being a model?
Being in front of the camera is fun! I love to travel and I'm so happy that modelling gives me the opportunity to work with so many creative people from all over the world.
What was your favourite modelling experience so far?
I will never forget walking the first show of my life, Dior Haute Couture, it was so exciting! And opening the Valentino show was just unbelievable as well!
Are runway shows or photo shootings better?
I like both.
Can you describe a typical day at fashion week?
You wake up early and you get to bed late, then you have castings and hopefully fittings or shows.
Are there any items that you always pack when you’re travelling?
The 8 hour cream by Elizabeth Arden and I always have the Roses de Chloé perfume with me, it just smells so good!
Do you have any beauty secrets you could share with us?
The 8 hour cream by Elizabeth Arden is great! Especially in winter, when it's cold outside and the skins gets dry. I use that cream almost every day.
How do you dress off-duty?
Off-duty and when I go to school I like to dress sportive (I love sneakers) and classic. And my favourite colour is blue.
What can we find on your Ipod?
I like to listen to Justin Timberlake and Jack Johnson.
What do you do in your free time?
Being around my friends and family! I like ballet and in summer I love to go swimming and surfing.
Do you have plans for the future?
I would like to finish school and continue modelling.
