F/W 09.10 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

i guess this is the new GF menswear campaign. it just popped up among the regular 'web' ads on WWD (Gillette and Target and what not) so i was a little confused. and i have no idea who the guys are, so i'm posting it here.

If you're referring to the comments he supposedly made on Oprah, that was just a rumor, that was debunked...by various people, including Oprah herself.

However, if you're referring to something else, let us know because I'm confused

Not only is the Oprah story not true, but Tommy Hilfigure is someone who has always supported and has a very good record of supporting civil rights and being in touch with the black community. Long before the rumors started.

In fact, he is one of the largest contributors to the Dr. King memorial that they are going to build in DC. Not to mention that he has had many black models and celebrities in his ad campaigns before.

^ He was only on Oprah once, so that they could clear up that he never made comments about Blacks, Hispanics or Asians, that he had never even been on the show before. Oprah confirmed this. I don't know what he said after that episode but if he said he meant those comments then he was saying he meant it that he never disparaged these ethnic groups to begin with.

Its probably a stupid publicity stunt to make him look all PC.

Tommy Hillfiger ads are always extremely diverse....

Liya Kebede, Chanel Iman, Kiara Kabukuru, Iman, Joy Bryant to name a few, have all been featured in Hillfigger ads over the bast 5-10 years.

It's seriously shocking that people still believe that rumour. Even if he DID harbour those feelings (which I highly doubt he does,) what kind of IDIOT would alienate such an enourmous part of his potential market? It simply doesn't make sense that he would ever say that
