Fair / Pale Skin

Well, I call it the elegant paleness :p
totally!
i do really find it elegant.. i mean elegance doesn't mean we have to look the same right? but how we feel more comfortable, suits us or is better for us :D aka our skin B):D

i still remembering my teacher (he is asian and im in hong kong right now, fyi) was boosting stuff like "being pale is out so out and ugly" and "tanning is in because white people are doing it and tanning make them look better and if you get a tan you will get a white boyfriend" etc.

i honestly have a speechless feeling when i hear that...

I'm very pale, very Irish looking and sometimes my pale skin bothers me but then all my darker-skinned friends say how they love the lighter skin. I think we all want what we can't have  I wish I could be darker, darker people wish they could be whiter.

what the hell?

right. and when it comes to skin colour it isn't something that you can alterate by doing sport or eating healthy ... i guess the key is to acept your skin tone and make the best out of it ;)
why fry in the sun, get red and risk skin cancer? to me it's more important to look healthy, have good/flawless skin :)

pale people desperately trying to get tanned for imo are like people who always buy clothes one size smaller ...

I have to avoid the sun at all costs. Its depressing in the summer when all my friends can go out and have fun in the sun. But I have to stay behind because of my sun allergy. I get irritation bumps that somewhat resemble pimples that go away after 2 days or so. Its embarrassing and really makes me feel terrible.

~self pity moment~ ahah

Its not like I didnt wish I was darker I just simply do not mind being pale.

jjbunny79 yeah i mean that idea is just like huh?? totally let one speechless...

i think everyone has its charming no matter the color they are the hair type,... you know...personality is what bring most of what things look like... if not we will be just simply plain... i like people charismatic rather than this or that... like some in perfections are really perfect to me... u know what i mean?... its not just the skin color... let everyone look the way they want or simply are... we all can exploit the best of us no matter how we are...its just know how you are and try to get the most of it... right?;)

 you know i really had to hold the urge to mention the side effect of sun tanning, tanorexia and example like Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, you know...:innocent:

personally i think if a person can get a natural tan is cool, but risking their life just to get a golden glow is just plain creepy.

You should have pointed out to him how many men would rather be with Dita Von Teese rather than Paris Hilton!

Well I think also when you realize that you will always be pale (ie tanning doesn't work) you can see more easily how contrived other people are. I don't mean that as an insult to anyone who tans, but when you will always be pale, you cannot co-opt to anyone's prescribed notion of beauty and so I think it can make one more aware of those who do. If that makes sense :p

Meg, i agree with you. he was pretty hard selling and ocassionally i wonder does he actually believe in it...

I read some of this thread and I'm thankful some people appreciate paler skin because I get made fun of a lot being of Ukrainian/Belorussian descent because my skin is VERY cool toned white as a result. Plus, the fact I don't go outside doesn't help either. Even though I'm glad a lot of people hear like pale skin, I think mine is TOO much. Should I use self tanner just to enhance my skin to be darker 1-3 shades, or maybe pick a new hair color?

Like the other people said, there's nothing wrong with your skin color. I have always had naturally pale/fair skin also and I've never had the desire to get a tan. :)

I agree with everyone else. Your skin tone is wonderful! Pale skin is more "real" vs. those who tend to look orange with either sunless tanning lotion or laying out in the sun. If you really want to look a little sun kissed I've found that the spray tan works great. I'm Ukrainian/Polish so I'm very pale too and blonde. You've got lovely dark hair - that's even better!

^Yes I agree, in fact I think she looks like one of those porcelain beauties that you see on the runway a lot!
