From, twisted takes on "Little Red Riding Hood" to "Sleepy Hollow" and the most inspired-by,"Alice in Wonderland"....fairy tales are rearing it's head on alot of designers.

Here,Little Red Riding Hood's namesake design collective from Germany-
Their twisted, futuristic, avant garde story "Tales of Tomorrow"

i'll look for some images to post...

:flower:

thanks for this, scott!
fantastic:heart:
please edit your post to credit the pictures, will you?

I think fairytales are always a part of fashion. They bring whimsy or darkness and season after season can just be seen as a reinterpretation, ie you can have a collection that is directly influenced by a specific fairytale but then a collection might be a take on a 'modern fairytale' and to me fairtytales also tie in with medievalism and all that sort of thing :flower:

^how could I forget?!

Softie, that's what is so great about them...the fantasy element is there but it isn't blatant.

charles anastase's modern day red riding hood...

well the idea for this thread WAS born in the new gothic thread whilst discussing gothic fairytales... ;)

but i thought it was going to be a more literal thing...
ie-the coat i posted...
things that look like ACTUAL fairytales that we have all grown up with and recognise...

anyway...glad to have this thread...

ah, thanks for the clarification softie on both fronts. haven't visited that thread and didn't know you meant things literally :flower:

Well,I thought we could include some experimentation...some play on the aesthetics as well. I suppose I could change the title to include that aspect??

i thin kit's fine as is scott...
i was just surprised that you chose to start with something so avant garde...
i usually start with the stuff that is easier for people to digest and then spring something kooky on them later...:innocent:

but i think it all belongs together...
it's interesting to see the evolution in a way imho...

I've never understood 'Little Red Riding Hood' (the label) being considered avant garde. There's something about them I find too studenty, too cheap, too unsophisticated.

It seems there will always be an Alice in Wonderland or Red Riding Hood themed collection or editorial going around during any season...and now with the current trend of illustrating over fashion images, I reckon the Fairytale thing will keep on running.

I like these images from Goldfrapp - www.goldfrapp.co.uk

here are some fairytale inspired ads from neomoda.com, pinnoccio and snow white from what i can tell:

not sure about the last one . . . maybe conderella?

honestly..
and, please, no offense to scott...

the goldfrapp images seem like the high end version of the red riding hood images...
IMHO...

i tend to agree with stilista that i find the red riding hood stuff on the amateur-ish side...
it lacks a certain polish and maturity that the goldfrapp images have...

btw-those are the images you were talking about in the new gothic thread, right scott?...i thought that you were going to post those actually...:p
at least we have both ends of the spectrum represented here...

love that limi feu.

great thread, scott, I'm really surprised we didnt have one about this already, with all our fairytales-obsessed members (strawberry, purplelucrezia) :innocent: :p

is this a trend in the shops or something ?
or is it a general fashion story?

lovely pictures, everyone, and thanks for the thread scott. :flower:
