Fall 2008 Makeup Collections

Thanks for all the lovely posts, Hanne! I'll be browsing through my local MAC-counter as usual...The Cult of Cherry-collection looks perfect for fall!

But isn't the Manish Arora for MAC coming to Denmark:(? Not too crazy about the colors, but I just looove the packaging.

Stila

Collaboration with Marchesa - The Backstage Beauty Collection

stila_xlarge.jpg

If you liked Marchesa's fall 2008 makeup, you'll love this news: WWD reports that Stila and the designers are teaming up to create a cosmetics collection this fall. The colors will reflect the runway look, with three eye shadow and eyeliner palettes ($40 each). Faux leather rosettes close the palettes, which will come in handy if the rosette trend is still going strong. In addition to the limited-edition palettes, three lipstick shades will be added to the permanent collection.

Since Stila has already been doing the makeup for Marchesa's four last ready-to-wear shows, a Marchesa collection by the cosmetics company is a natural next step.
Per Women's Wear Daily, The Backstage Beauty Collection, to retail for $40, "includes three palettes, each with one matte and two shimmery eye shadow shades and an eyeliner.
The Front Row Look is a black-patent palette with a smoky quartz eyeliner; The Red Carpet Look is a red-patent palette with an onyx eyeliner, and
The Runway Look is a pewter-patent palette with an onyx eyeliner."
Along with the palettes, "fake leather rosettes that can be reused as necklaces or bracelets" are included.

The limited-edition collection will be available in August (through October) in-store and online at Sephora and via stilacostmetics.com.

Added to the permanent Stila lineup are "lipstick shades named for Chapman (a sheer red), Craig (a nude shade) and Shobrook (a rich berry color)," which will retail for $22 and are named after Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig and makeup artist in charge of the fashion shows Talia Shobrook.

Givenchy

2008 Autumn Winter Collection

givenchy 1.jpg

"Once upon a time", a tune invaded my mind. My collection came together slowly. I knew what the setting was, but not the meaning.

Barbara’s ‘L’Aigle noir’ drew me into its world, and I let myself be carried away on its midnight-blue wings. The blue night was sprinkled with precious gems, and the late-night promenade was filled with butterflies. I pictured butterflies with spots, proudly and elegantly showing off their differences.

These complex, charming and mysterious rebels were armed with elegance in the battle against conformism. The codes of the dandy brought me back to Givenchy. A little polka dot dress, a tomboy wearing rough diamonds. A designer and his muse. A never-ending story.

The collection combines extremely refined textures and the discreet distinction of navy-blue cases with covers decorated with white polka dots."

ooooh, this makes me sooo excited!! I am going to have to browse without my wallet (well, specifically, without my credit card). I have a feeling if I see and play with all these gorgeous products, I will be tempted to charge an insane amount of money!! (with the justification of: I needed it)

I admit I rarely get excited for Fall collections. I get really fired up for the Holiday collections as I am a HUGE palette fan and Holiday is usually when they roll out. So far I have on my Holiday list: MAC, Prescriptives and possibly Stila.

Suburban Snob I take it that you have seen some of the holiday collections ? If you have, it would be great if you'd start a thread on them :flower:

Only the Giorgio Armani lip wax and the Ungaro/MAC collections interest me for fall..

PS -- in no way did I mean any disrespect to this wonderful thread. I apologize greatly if it sounded as such!

nah.. lol.. I think the general consensus is that the fall collections - this year anyway, is rather uninspirering! :D

I think I am only buying one thing from the fall/holiday collections- the Chanel Haute Chocolate nailpolish.
