Even if they are real fisherman the magazine managed to make them all look very gay. It still has enough fashion, but maybe too much for these men to handle!

Except for maybe two of them, they don't look Portuguese at all. My mother comes from a family of actual Portuguese seaman, they look nothing like this. My childhood running in my grandmother's town, between the boats and the fish guts... I'm seriously intrigued on how they will make that glamourous at all.

Very random thought, there's this Coladeira song on one of Cesaria Evora's albums 'Travessa De Pexeira', and it has something to do with fishwives of Lissabon. A friend once explained the lyrics to be a bit of a funny tale. Your post just made me think about that.
While you generallyhave seamen/fishwives in just about every coastal country in the word (and they're normally stereotyped as rough around the edges), I do think it's more pronounced in Portuguese culture.

Back to fashion! US Vogue often tried to glamorise Irish farmhands, to comic effect for those familiar with them. I think it can work if more attention is paid to the styling. I like what the dark one in front is wearing, he should be centre. The whole scarf around the neck thing is too repetitive, and the bald one can go a bit backwards, so that we can see more of the shortest one!

In the days before the internet - and ready access to anything and everything - I used to stay up late to watch a Portuguese language programme simply because the men in it were so damn handsome.

I'm intrigued by this cover shot, although it's probably a sign that the next hipster trend will be about looking like a continental fisherman, without ever having to get your hands roughened by the actual work.

My country's fishing sector has zero glamour. It usually involves three generations of men, from the same family, with exactly the same name, going out and drowning in the same boat, on the same day - or if you're particularly lucky, low-wage work on land in a fish processing factory.
