it's not an image of the buddha. it's ebisu that is seated. and the one in gold is daikoku.
yes the images of ebisu and daikoku are famous and popular although it's not like ebisu is always wearing the pants in that color and daikoku is necessarily in gold.
but you can safely say the puffy pants are theirs.
I don't know if yohji was doing the combo of the pants' shape and the color on purpose.
the color might have been spontaneous because I was searching online for the images of them wearing those pants as references, but not for the pants in that particular color.
appearances may be something that sends some meanings regardless of consciousness.

Olympia Scarry Dons Givenchy Burka

The artist Olympia Scarry, who with her boyfriend Neville Wakefield are the art industry's hottest new couple, wowed partygoers in Miami at Art Basel this year — and not because of a scantily-clad bathing costume, which is common of that part of the country. Nope, Scarry's non-conventional look actually covered quite a lot of skin. All of it, in fact. She made the rounds at Playboy's "The Nude Is Muse" party at The Standard Hotel covered head-to-toe in a black lace burka — a custom-made Givenchy burka, no less, which she explained was a performance piece in itself, and a commentary on the nakedness of Vanessa Beecroft's exhibition in the nearby pool. Scarry, who showed her work at the NADA Festival while in South Beach, worked the fully-embellished and crystalized work of Riccardo Tisci poolside. How's that for fashionable irony?

Arkadius Spring/Summer 2002

Arkadius' Spring collection, relatively low on dramatics compared to past performances, was based on a Catholic theme, the adoration of the Virgin. Beginning with a shaven-headed, bare-breasted "Mary" festooned with crucifixes and a crown of thorns, the show converted embroidery usually seen on priestly vestments into pants and dresses, while interspersing padded 3-D appliqués of the Madonna and Child and the Sacred Heart onto tops. In between, there were calmer moments where Arkadius worked with lace, georgette ruffles and paisley for party dresses with complicated cuts. Then the show reverted to a religious climax as a model paraded, in gold brocade pants, with her face inserted into an icon.
