Fashion East’s crop of young designers showed substantial collections with commercial elements. Louise Gray fashioned solid red crepe into wide leg palazzo pants and heavy cotton into A-line dresses printed with polka dots, some adorned with metal trinkets and panels of silver chain-mail. Newcomer Natascha Stolle’s Eighties-influenced collection was also relatively restrained, with oversized black sweaters printed with a patent faux crocodile print, and ultra high-waist silk skirts worn with chiffon blouses. Meanwhile David Saunders of David David showed a film in lieu of a show. Models wearing his spring collection of jumpsuits, T-shirts, and knit mini dresses moved in kaleidoscopic shapes on a video screen.
