Hey guys,
I searched for fashion groups and there didn't appear to be any posts so I thought i'd start a thread for people to post fashion groups they know of and the fashion companies owned by them... it would be an excellent reference for those who are wanting HR contacts etc. when applying for jobs. Here are the ones I know :flower:

Gucci Group

Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent

LVMH

Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Celine, Kenzo, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Emilio Pucci, Donna Karan

PVH

Calvin Klein, Van Heusen, Michael Kors, Keneth COle, BCBG, Sean John, Donald Trump

Anyone know of any others?

If I recall correctly, LVMH owns the sector of Christian Dior watches. Correct me if I'm wrong...^_^

I believe Arnault owns Dior, but it has stakes in LVMH

Arnault owns LVMH...he's the PDG! so he "owns" everything under the LVMH group... that's my guess.

the book is from 2002.... so I guess some stuff have changed... they don't talk about P.Diddy group, Hilfiger etc.

Am I completely crazy, or does Procter & Gamble own some of the fashion houses?

^I think they have Rochas, right?

Puig has Paco Rabanne and Nina Ricci...

maybe someone can explain why they are in groups also :p ??? Does it mean these people who buy the labels are the ones who fund it? Isn't Comme des Garcons now a sort of group and funding their Tao and Watanabe...

I believe Dior is not officially part of LVMH..just the watches and beauty part..but in the end it's all owned by Arnault so it doesn't really matter..

Are you sure JPG belongs to the Hermes group? I'm quite sure he's still indepedent actually.

We also have the Diesel group with Diesel, Dsquared, 55dsl, Sophia Kokosalaki, Maison Martin Margiela

^no the only independent (big) brand in France is Sonia Rykiel...
Jean Paul Gaultier belongs to Hermes.... that's what FashionNow said in 2002.
(i've checked FashionNow2 but i cannot find these infos about fashion groups.)

PG produces rochas, hugo boss, valentino and some other FRAGANCES... they used to own Rochas as a fashion label too... but they decided to close it ( P&G)!

mmmm.. some of the fashion now is definitely outdated. The Prada Group Sold Helmut Lang, Alaia and Jil Sander... not sure about P&G.. is it that they simply produce the valentino, etc? Because on the Valentino Group website which i assume is current they own valentino, hugo, missoni, etc.

hi it-boy...

the groups are basically just holding companies which control each of the listed labels... e.g. LVMH is in control of Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, etc.
They generally try to exercise a lot of control over the designers.. and if the designers aren't profitable the directors can sack the designersm etc. There are some exceptions of course, apparently when Alaia was bought out by the Prada group they were excellent with letting him do what he wanted. However they sold the label fairly soon after... at the end of the day they want to make money.
