hey everyone! I just wanted to ask if everyone would be kind enough to share their stories on how they broke into careers as a stylist.

I'm waiting to hear back from fashion schools but am now thinking i might just try to start climbing the ladder rather than going back to school. I just dont know where to start yet

Hello,

You can see my first amateur test shoot that i did thanks to a couple of friends, 2 years ago. There is no consistency i know, no story whatsoever:smile:)

But it would be very good if you can give some feedback, now im waiting for the pics from the shoot that i did afer 2 years with a real model & photographer, hopefully they will be coming this week

thanks:smile:

Hi Kitty,

Sorry was gone when you posted your first shoot ... but this second one is quite good for a beginner. Since you asked for feedback here are my thoughts on this one ....

The plusses:
First ... you are working with a good photographer ... congratulations! That, in itself is very hard to do, when you are new. Next, I see a theme here ... sporty wear in grey. black, navy ... with a small touch of jewelry for the unexpected ... a counterbalance. And the jewelry is obvious, but not overdone. Good choices.

Place for improvement:
Wrinkles ... all over the place. And it does not look deliberate (like some of the stores like Hollister do, where they crumple and roll up everything) ... it looks like you did not take the time to steam them. As a stylist ... that is your first job .. to make sure the clothes are camera ready.

But overall ... I'm impressed! Good job.

Kitty, I agree with betteT

The styling is good- not overdone, easy to `get`(if that's what you were going for), and the photog. is excellent.

But the wrinkles have GOT to go!!

It reminds of a time in my childhood, when I first learned to play baseball. I hit the ball and ran like a mo-fo outta hell around the diamond. I get back to home base and the coach says "You were faster than anything I`ve ever seen out there.... but you forgot to touch a single base!"

So, don`t forget the basics

This thread needs some RCP ASAP ...

So here's my latest work ... feedback, please!!! (I know .. its only one look but twas more of a test for the photographer, make up girl and the non-models :P

I have A LOT of old ones but in really bad quality :s I need to scan them from the magazines

Here there are some pics from a DISASTROUS photoshoot where everything happened (a horse ate half of the dress, it rained .. hair+make up team got lost, some people from the team got food poisoned), which coincidentally, got killed and didnt made it anywhere :s

Im new to styling -- I started over the summer, and in a few months I've done a lookbook, three tests and a couple of shoots at boutiques for the lifestyle magazine I edit.

I would really, really appreciate any kind of critique/criticism from the more experience stylists here; if there is something I'm doing wrong (which Im sure there is lol) I really want to nip it in the bud now.

Hey guys, I've been looking through the thread waiting to be able to post my own. I have to say I'm a bit nervous to show you since there is some great talent here. But it's been published on peter tom and dave so I guess people will see it either way... ^_^

I've had trouble getting a hand on the pictures to post them on my own here so if you wouldn't mind clicking on the link (issue #7) and jumping to page 50, editorial "Alaska" I'd really appreciate it. And if you guys have any comment I'd love to hear.

It's a photoshoot I did with an other TFS member. I was told the saturday for monday about the shoot, and did my best to create looks and actually sew up stuff to complete them. (and honestly the day of I had no idea what I was doing I just went with it...:lol:)

Anyway great experiance, and had a lot of fun with both the photographer and model. Very nice guys.

the last one is a testshoot I quickly styled, and then the other ones are the editorial I talked about in my previous post (it's just easier than going on the link i posted... :flower:)
