Filippa k | the Fashion Spot

Filippa k

I own a few pieces from Filippa K. And the ideas are nice but the tailoring is awful. Being a pretty damn perfect size 52, I can't fit into any of the jackets or coats below a size 54. With one of the coats I had to go to a size 56 (!) to fit my arms into it. It is pretty damn ridiculous.

I am slim. I work out, but I don't lift weights, so there is nothing extreme about my bodyshape. It is just really, really poor craftmansship behind those clothes.

But the designs are nice. If they step up in quality and tailoring I might consider being a returning customer.

Nice designs, but shockingly lousy tailoring (at least in mens wear).

They need to step up in quality or kill the mens wear line.

Filippa K – Ease

It's been a while since this line was launched, but I don't think I've seen anyone posting about this? I've been meaning to go to the store and take a look, but I've been lazy... Has anyone else seen the stuff and can report?

Copied and pasted from the pressrelease:

"Today, leading Scandinavian fashion label Filippa K launches the new concept Ease. Ease is all about respite and well-being, and hence a reaction to today’s hectic society. Soft, comfortable and stylish describe the collection with its relaxed, yet smart garments. To experience the thought behind and the atmosphere surrounding the idea, Ease will be launched in its own boutique at Grev Turegatan in Stockholm.

With Ease, Filippa K has created a concept which is a symbiosis between the outer self and inner self, where the body and the soul decide what clothing to wear without forgoing stylishness for comfort or vice versa.
“Ease follows the Filippa K philosophy to combine style with quality and comfort. When relaxing at home or getting on a long-haul flight one wants to feel at ease with oneself, yet be stylish. The concept is a response to today’s society where personal well being is sought after”, says Filippa Knutson, creative director for Filippa K.

Ease contains elegant however functional garments, where classic pieces have been renewed with modern flattering cuts in materials such as cashmere, silk and finest pure cotton. The collection features deconstructed cardigans, feminine camisoles and trousers with a comfortably tailored waistband. The palette follows the casualness of the clothing, and is based on black and white as well as different shades of green, brown and grey.

The concept will also be available at selected boutiques around Europe, and as part of the new concept you will also find complementing products such as accessories and a CD with refined electronic music produced by Andreas Tilliander. The Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh has created a a conceptual boutique, where modern urbanism meets a casual lifestyle, with an interior made of contrasting materials such as pine and chrome. The harmonic feeling is completed with an installation of green plants that covers one of the walls. Ease’s label and all packaging are designed by Stockholm Design Lab.

/\ I think I've been to that store, but I am not sure. Is it in a sort of a small mall in Sodermalm?

^ Nope, this is in the chicest part of town, Östermalm. There is a Filippa K at Götgatsbacken, sounds like the one you went to?

I'm not exactly impressed by the quality of Filippa K in general, but I'm interested to see if Ease is any good...

The new collection Ease is gorgeous! But the fabric is too delicate - I bought a vest, washed it once and noticed a hole (??) right in the middle of the front piece...

But hopefully the quality will improve. I remember they had the same problem (colours washed out) when the original brand first started out.

Yea, that was the one.

^^ Wow, Nilo... I went there today, it's a tiny shop and no menswear. The selection was very casual, but minimally clean and nice. The pieces I looked at seemed to be OK quality...

Then I went to Filippa K's menswear store further up the street and found a GORGEOUS cashmere cardigan: pretty thin quality and long with pockets that have "unfinished" top edges that roll, and buttoned with a single low button. Very casually elegant! And they have a cap sleeved cashmere t-shirt that matches so you could make it a twinset! I'm in agony, but it's more than 500 € combined, and I already bought a navy cashmere hoodie earlier today... :ninja:

Isn't it so that this collection is only for women, and maybe in the future there will come a mens collection as well? At least that's what I've heard.

^ Yep, seems like it... I found a pic of the cardigan at www.filippa-k.com, but the button is actually placed lower than on the runway pic
